*** Official Iowa State Season Thread ***

A lot of the books have this as a pick'em. I know it's ISU senior night, but something doesn't smell right about this...Dixon notoriously has coached circles around Steve head to head, and TCU won last time despite missing one of their top players. I could see our guys, even if they are not mentally defeated following Tuesday's game, just simply getting out-hustled tonight, by a team that just abused them in the low-post last time. Who's betting ISU ML in this one?

I suspect we get off to a slow start with the two walkons starting.
I'm glad that Prohm is putting them out there. It's a classy move. It probably means that we get off to a slow start.

Otherwise, Dixon owns Prohm. I won't go predicting a win until these guys prove they can get one.

Maybe Georges or Naz could become our Howard someday, Fred wouldn't have been nearly as good without Sadler or his first head ( name?) assistant to help. You have to realize your strengths and be humble enough to hire to cover your weaknesses.:)
As long as we're fantasizing, Melvin Ejm would be that for me. The other two, yeah, fine, too.

Serious question; if Phil Martelli is looking to get back into being a head coach, should we pursue him? I know he's not exactly young these days, but he was a hell of a coach for St. Joe's, and a lot of the CBB talking heads thought they made a huge mistake in letting him go a couple of years ago.

Sure. No way JP would pay him, but he'd be good.
I wouldn't worry about the coach-in-waiting thing, either. That's so rarely a successful thing. Just find somebody to get things rolling and work it out from there.

What do you suppose the actual attendance would be today if there were no COVID-19 restrictions? O/U 5500?

Regarding the hiring of Prohm, the story I always heard was Bryce Drew was offered the job, but turned it down based on the advice of his brother Scott Drew knowing it would be tough to be the guy that replaced Fred. Steve was the 2nd option.

So he should've gotten rid of Christy?
No, but I don't think Pollard confronts head coaches and asks them the tough questions about their programs - like his mentor Alvarez does, for example.
He waits until the wheels totally drop off and then fires them.
Also he loves Christy - because she's deferential to him and isn't demanding. Unlike KJ, who challenged Jamie so he let her go to OU.

We are currently sitting at 6th worst win percentage in all D1 basketball (342 out of 347). If we can win today, we will move up to about 12th worst win percentage (336 out of 347). Progress!

Havent had a reason to be subscribed to the sports pack with ESPNU and can't see subscribing just for one game this late in the season. Might have to find a stream.

Haha - no, volleyball has not "kept steady." It's "declined steadily" for about the last ten years...

oh come on. It hasn’t declined dramatically. It’s stayed steady or declined a bit.
