COLUMN: My perspective on Fred Hoiberg/Nebraska

Of course, he should pursue his dreams.

But my dreams were for him to add some chapters to a story that is better and unlike any other story in college sports:
  • Hilton ballboy
  • Ames High star
  • ISU star
  • ISU coach
  • National Championship
  • ISU AD
  • Big 12 Commissioner
What a great story that would have been!

Now, the story ends with chapters about a failed attempt with the Bulls, a daughter working with Bill Self, a son walking on for Tom Izzo, and now coaching the Bug-eaters. Yech.

It all started when he sent his kids to Gilbert instead of Ames High! If only Charter could have been his realtor and gotten him into Ames!

His heart must have made a miraculous recovery too.

Northwestern has tougher academic requirements so their pool of recruits is smaller. Any dope can get into Nebraska.

That's the funny thing, Collins has won a tournament game already and signs top 100 recruits there but has a lot of work to do. I wasn't expecting them to be so bad since the tourney excitement they had.

Is this akin to "You made your Nebraska bed, you little tramp. Now sleep in it."?
Do they even have beds in Nebraska? My impression is that they're a bunch of zombies, walking around, looking for traces of football glory to feed from.

Except I don’t think Wake and UNLV go about recruiting the same way.

Well Forbes is the coach of Wake now... Came up under Pearl. ;)

Also I don't think Otz will recruit the UNLV program as it was earlier... not that will stop the boosters.
