COLUMN: My perspective on Fred Hoiberg/Nebraska

Do most ISU fans over sell Fred’s value? Seems like the common thought among the oh so wise cf poster brigade is he would just be options 1 and 1a at schools like KU or MSU and I just don’t see it.

Good call! But honestly, we're a school that retires jerseys before a kid even comes to campus. We're also the school that wants to run kids off based off a cryptic tweet about a girlfriend or rock band. Maybe our poooo DON'T stink after all.

We also used to have the most realistic and reasonable fanbase in the country, but we have become the most delusional in the Big 12.

CSP is the best! CSP is the best! CSP is the best! CSP is a great guy! So glad we have CSP who wants to be here! There. Just trying to keep up with the Hoiberg posts!

Yes, he can do better. Nebraska is the worst Power Five program in the country. This is a fact. So they have a shiny new arena...wow. My girlfriend has some Mary Kay for your future slab of bacon.

It's no joke, the man can have his pick of most of the jobs that come open in the next two years. If he's bored, take a studio job at CBS, TNT, or ESPN. You can't tell me they wouldn't want him until his job comes open.

I'm fired up.

That's not true.

They've been hovering around being at least OK for a while and if Fred even wins an NCAA tourney game there and gets to the tourney consistently at least he's set for as long as he wants to be there.

Would be kind of weird seeing him throw Hoiball on another program but interesting too.

What program is worse?!? The one program they were compared to, Northwestern, just won a NCAA Tourney game. Nebraska has only been to SEVEN tournaments in their programs history! That. Is. Dreadful.

I don't know where they sit on all time w/l record, but looking at that as an option, just so you don't go further with this freak out:

NU all time record: 1477-1377, .525

ISU all time record: 1375–1322, .510

So likely not the worst.

Most wouldn’t use all-time records as their metric.

Nebraska would be way easier to win at than Northwestern. Just because they have been historically mediocre doesn't mean that it's impossible to get better. I'm sure you expected Chris Beard to have the success he has had at that national power Texas Tech.

I hope fred to nebby goes about like this.

Why would UNL be way easier? Just because NW has been historically mediocre doesn’t mean it’s impossible to get better. They’re improving their facilities, have academics to sell, and better location.

We get you’re a Husker fan and refuse to be objective. There aren’t any P5 jobs in which Nebraska is way easier. That’s why they’re one of the worst P5s of the last 40 years.

Northwestern and Neb have been pretty parallel in basketball. They took the lead by a nose when they won in the NCAA's in 2017.

Tech has been to four Sweet 16's and has had numerous tournament appearances.

If Fred went to Northwestern would you still think Nebraska would be a better potential program?!?

Northwestern has tougher academic requirements so their pool of recruits is smaller. Any dope can get into Nebraska.
