it's interesting ...

No. This one. Get it right. Gotta' have the purple comic sans "S" or it just isn't right. ;)
Kind of like, we don't say "**** Kansas", we say "Kansas must be destroyed!" per @CycloneErik .

You don't find it interesting that for as bad as we've been the last 40+ years, we still have a winning record against purple kansas? How is it a meaningless stat?

It just shows that they had a worse history than us before they hired Snyder. I think most of us would trade our seasons for theirs since 1990. None of it is relative to today, would I trade players and coaches with KSU today, no I would not, but all time winning stats really show nothing. Look at Minnesota, they have a hell of a record all time, but most of that winning was done a 100 years ago, outside of last year, when have they done anything?

I find it very interesting and sad at the same time. Think about how our record was before the vampire showed up in the Lil Apple. Then think about how crappy we were, and then think how REALLY crappy purple Kansas was (at the time...on the verge of shutting down the program outright, which a lot of K-State fans have no clue about) and all of this took place over a generation. The "Miracle in Manhattan" is definitely noteworthy.

Then I think about a glimmer of hope that Matt Campbell is our version of the vampire and we can flip the records around (and in a lot of cases, close the gaps) and do things that haven't been done at ISU..........EVER, because it IS possible!

I suppose there might be some youngsters who don't know about what was before Snyder but not many. It's written about ad nausea in the media whenever Snyder's name comes up. And the SI story from back then is legendary.

FUTILITY U
KANSAS STATE WINLESS SINCE 1986, HAS ONE CLAIM TO FAME: IT IS AMERICA'S MOST HAPLESS TEAM
Last November, when Miller hired Snyder away from Iowa, where he was the offensive coordinator, Miller told him, "Kansas State is flat on its back. You may have heard it's one of the toughest jobs in the country. It's not. It's the toughest." ... When it comes to college football, nobody does it worse than Kansas State. After 93 years of trying to play the game, the Wildcats' record is 299-509-41, dead last among the 106 schools in Division I-A. Next worst is Wake Forest, which has won 308 games and lost 451 over six fewer years of trying. State has been looking for its 300th win since Oct. 18, 1986; the Wildcats have failed 27 straight times, the longest nonwinning streak in the land (they forged a 17-17 tie with Kansas in 1987). K-State publicist Kenny Mossman says, "We may not win many games but we are fun to watch." Actually, the word is funny ... In other words, the football team is sacrificed for those who cannot imagine Big Eight basketball without the Wildcats. Snyder, predicting the future, says. "We will be as good as we can be, and we will not be 0-11." Stay tuned.

That is a bit of hyperbole. Yes it has been a long time but they only have one national championship that was 100 or more years ago (1904). Their others are 1934, '35, '36, '40, '41, and '60. That's only 60 years ago.

;)

Why 8 years? Why not 5 or 10? Last 5 years would seem more relevant but with so many new coaches not really that compelling.

I think you missed where it was done since the current conference membership in 2012, hence the 8 years.

Thanks, yes totally missed that.

Remember when WVA used to pretty much rule the Big East and now are a middle of the pack team - pretty much the same goes for TCU and the MWC.

This is one of those stats that mean nothing.
Since 1990 we have 5 wins vs KSU, including 2 ten game losing streaks to KSU. Snyder hated ISU with a passion and it showed.
Snyder hates everything, including life. With all due respect to ISU, I’m not sure he thought that much about ISU.

The rumor was that Snyder wanted the ISU job when he was at EIU, and we never gave him an interview for the position. From that point on, he would show no mercy to ISU.
When he retired the first time, ISU under Mac had just beaten him for the first time in years. When asked about it, he replied, "when I start to lose games to Mac, its time to retire."

I call 'baloney' on that statement. Bill Snyder, if anything, is a gentleman who wouldn't say crap if he fell into a manure pile much less something bad about Mac, a coach he greatly admired, worked with at EIU, and considered a friend. I don't know why people write such rubbish other than making themselves feel somehow superior.

The two worked together at EIU, the rest is nothing more than speculation whether the two were friends and admired each other. We hear coach speak a lot after a win or lose to a school, by the head coach, that does nothing to show whether to two head coach's are friends or hate each other.

Did he say it, that is what I remember reading, in the end, Snyder hated ISU that is all that mattered, and would run up the score every chance he got.

The results of ISU should not really surprise anyone.

IOWA STATE
7-1 - Kansas
4-4 - Texas Tech
3-5 - Baylor, TCU, West Virginia

1-7 - Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State

KU has been horrible for years, TT has been up and down, just like us. Baylor and TCU had great teams the first year of the playoffs, and both have been up and down since then.

OU and OSU have been the most stable of all teams, UT has better athletes and more of them than ISU could ever hope to get.

KSU is the one that is the most surprising, ISU blew at least 2 games they should have won, included the last year Rhodes was the coach here.

Anytime you change HC, unless you are OU, there is naturally going to be a drop off from their record, if the program was successful before the change. Ohio St. nor OU missed a beat when their old coach left, and the new coach came on board.
While those programs tend to create their own success it is interesting that the last two hires were in house. I think that is going to help stability in the short term, but may be problematic down the road.

Snyder had no reason to hate ISU. He beat them like a drum. He did not like Ku, I'm confident of that, but that runs in the family, so to speak.
