In Memoriam: Ames Business/Restaurants

So even if his product proves far superior to that of others in the market (which we don't know, I'm merely hypothesizing) he should not open a pizza place simply because there are many competitors?
No, he can do what he wants. I’m saying I think there is a surplus of pizza places in Ames. Personally, I’ll probably never go because I’d rather have blaze, dominos, or papi Johns

Based on how many people yearn for Home Team, he probably should rethink market conditions.

A couple years later, any updates on new or closed restaurants/bars in Ames?

Mickeys was our bar and I know it closed then got bought quickly and reopened.

For new restaurants we really like Cornbred. Best brisket at an Iowa BBQ place I've had.

has Anyone tried scooters? Holy disappointment. I had to work Saturday so I decided to stop for a breakfast sandwich and a coffee. I asked for bacon instead of sausage on my bagel. Woman at the counter said that wasn’t possible but I could order the bacon ciabatta sandwich. When i get to the window I asked if next time I could just order bacon on the side. She says everything is premade so no special orders. The food is basically what you get in an airport when you’re in a rush to get to the gate. Coffee was okay but not better than dunkin or McDs. I’m shocked this place is getting a second location in Ames. What a sad state of affairs for quick breakfast in Ames these days.

I heard they were widening that intersection, and all those businesses were too close to the street to save them. The owners of the Mandarin just decided to retire.
No, there was/is a development planned. At one point they even wanted a pedestrian bridge over the train tracks.
