Shawshank for being able to pick up wherever it is on a Sunday and going with it.

Goodfellas is one that I typically need to watch all the way as the story's more complicated.

No wrong answer on this one. Love both and will stop to watch both when they're on. I'd pick Goodfellas if I had to.

I have 'The Godfather' #1 and 'Mystic River' #2. I love 'Mystic River' just overall as an amazing movie, but also love how it's about a lower-level neighborhood mob crew with Jimmy (Sean Penn) running the show, running his corner store, etc. It's a cool, gritty and unique take on organized crime that takes a different path from the huge mob family Boss like most others.
Good call on Mystic River. What a phenomenal cast. Some of those camera pull away scenes are incredible.
Untouchables is very high on my list.

Ha.....I'm watching end now too.....same AMC broadcast I am sure. Goodfellas is so good.

Two phenomenal movies. It really depends on the mood I’m in that night. What I would probably do is switch back and forth between the two.

If I start either one, I’m finishing. But Goodfellas gets a little bump (get it?) due to Scorcese and the Stones-laden soundtrack.

Top 5 mafia flicks:
1. Godfather II
2. Godfather
3. Goodfellas
4. The Departed
5. Casino

Not sure I’d put The Departed above Casino, but your list is solid. In my opinion, The Godfather and Godfather II are cream of the crop type movies, regardless of genre. Those movies are LOOOOOONG, but every time I watch them (and I’ve seen them both many, many times), I just want them to keep going. In my opinion, they aren’t long enough, and that says something about their brilliance.

I think the ongoing narration by Morgan Fairchild makes Shawshank so easy to pick up at any point and follow to the end from there. (Yeah, I did that on purpose. :))
