Need to go big vs certain teams

Games like this will continue to happen if we always play 4 guards. Prohm tried to go a little bigger in the first half with Talley but that still didn’t get the job done. I think he needs to put 2 of Jacobson/Lard/Conditt on rhe floor in certain situations. Problem is that the regular season is almost over and we’ve never done it so it might be too late to try.

You can’t continue to get dominated on the glass and win tough games. Not to mention that we pose very little interior scoring threat so Baylor hugged up on us on the perimeter all night.

Even the smallish 2000 team would pair Fizer and Shirley fairly often and that allowed us to beat big teams like Kansas.

When you give up 18 offensive rebounds I’m down for trying nearly anything. THT’s offense wasn’t great enough to make up for the other stuff.

Another post may have helped keep Vital off the boards, but Baylor attacks the glass as a team. Lard and Jacobson can’t keep up with Baylor Vital or Kegler on defense, either.

Really, Baylor is better at small ball than we are. Quicker guards that can also shoot, and they defend and rebound better as a team.

Prohm is too stubborn to do that. Looks like he’s sticking to 4 guard lineups at all times no matter what while we watch the team get beat up on the glass against certain opponents.

I'm not sure it's being stubborn but he's said many times they haven't really practiced doing anything with two bigs yet

Sitting at home collecting a settlement for being a little too “tough” on players.

Good Old Larry Eustacy might have been a little tough but he won back to back regular season titles and won over 30 games in one season, and also just missed the Final Four while playing Mich St in their back yard aka Auburn Hills, MI...If the game had been played in KCity ...Larry would have taken us to the Final Four....Larry really only wanted 3 things out of his teams Play Defense and Out Rebound your opponent, and shoot more Foul Shots than your opponents.....and it worked...

He also lost first round in the tourney as a 2 seed and missed the tourney 3 out of the 5 years he was here with those 3 years being real bad

I don’t know why I guess. 4 guards is just not going to work against everyone and many were saying this back in November.

I see both sides of it. Obviously our guards are our strength and if we go small teams have to adjust to that too. I think his main focus is maxing out our team and that is us going small instead of worrying about matchups

You can debate whether or not they should have practiced with two bigs but if it is not something they are comfortable with that would be a disaster. It would be an absolute cluster on both offense and defense if it is something they aren't used to. It isn't just as easy as saying "Let's just play with two bigs".

Exactly. You can argue if you think it's smart of them to practice it or not but the reality is night in and night out we're the best with 4 guards and Prohm is set on making us the best version of ourselves

Good ole Larry also had 3 very bad teams in his 5 years here.

We need to practice it for sure. A package for special situations or matchups. Not for the whole game, but for 5-10 minute stretches as needed.

It looked like a cluster to me.
