Everyone's wife be a Hoiberg truther. Mine is just pissed her "my coach is better looking than your coach" shirt is no longer relevant. Surprised people haven't been critical of Steve for that shortcoming.
Looking at college basketball coaches, your wife's shirt is still mostly relevant. It just isn't always relevant like it previously was.

I don’t know anyone that actually thinks Hoiberg will come back here. I’m not 100% on the fire Prohm train but I think this team has too much talent to be losing to Baylor and K-State

I think generally speaking Prohm does a nice job, but there are certainly a handful of trends that are rightfully cause for concern. It seems like we routinely struggle with late game offensive execution, rebounding and inbounds plays, which all seem pretty coachable. I think people are justified in those criticisms. You can also counter that with many things he does very well, like recruiting and identifying talent, coaching defense, coaching guards, etc.

I do not get this feeling at all. While I agree the group is small, it's at least a dozen posters that think this way. Many weren't seen after the game last night.

Yeah it’s amazing how some posters weren’t here. But fortunately there are still dedicated haters that can’t be discouraged.

He’s definitely not perfect. He has holes. But the stuff that’s been said for going on 4 years now, goes beyond basketball.

Iowa state fans have put up with a lot of **** coaches, Dan McCarney is still revered by a lot of these same people. The venom goes way beyond just on court results.

Duke and Kentucky have too much talent to lose to just about anybody yet they don't go undefeated. Sports in general but especially college basketball can be funny like that. I think the big problem here is Iowa State fans getting way too high and low and having unrealistic expectations after a couple wins.

The young talent is a real reason for the criticism. This team has top 15 talent when they gel. We haven’t looked close to that except against bad teams and maybe a little against Kansas. To reach our full potential we need to fix things such as our out of bounds plays and our habit of tightening up on offense and disappearing late in games.

At this point no one is doubting the recruiting of Prohm. The issue is in game coaching adjustments. People always defend it as players have to execute and to an extent that is true but it is a characteristic of his teams at this point.

Not going to bother with this silliness

Yeah we dominate at Baylor historically, and obviously a team that made the elite 8 last year with a lot of guys back must suck too.

I mean it’s not like they followed up winning in Ames with anything.

This post is why it’s so clear it goes beyond just basketball. We just had another top 10 win on the road, something that doesn’t happen it Iowa state, and this guy says he’s not 100% on the fire the coach train.

The op nailed this group. Good job out off them

I think what it boils down to is what a fickle sport basketball is. Honestly, last night, Texas Tech seemed to miss a ton of shots around the rim and went 40% from the line. In our losses to Baylor and K-State we had similar things go against us-- missing open shots and free throws, a questionable call or two, etc.. I think between any halfway decent teams, which everyone in the Big 12 is, there is a slim margin either way. Some games the shots go your way and other games they don't. And that's what is so infuriating about basketball. But I always try to remind myself the Coach isn't out there shooting, dribbling or passing, and they probably don't change the way they coach from game to game.

It's kind of interesting talking about all of the young talent, but a couple of those guys weren't even supposed to contribute this year. Now we're upset that they aren't playing like top 15 talent. Give them some time.

His in game strategy is great .

But for the love of Christ he needs to start Wiggington.

Honestly, I don't think he's 100% yet or he would be starting. His shot isn't back, which may bring him back to ISU for a junior year. He's 14 of 48 in Big12 play (.292). As it stands right now, he is not draft board ready.

When Tech tied the game 61-61, how many people thought 'here we go again'? How is this hating on Prohm?

Is it unique to Prohm or did the previous coaching staff have similar games on the road?

Love the name calling and the fact folks can't disagree with someone else, whether it be fan, player or coach.
1. I hope most are past Hoiberg. Hope most are judging Prohm based on just his time here and only that.
2. Nobody wants to see Iowa State fail, but to imply disagreeing with the coach makes you less of a fan is ridiculous. He has a horrible record in close games and this team almost did it again with turnovers. Glad that wasn't the case, but his name in close games does not get cleared after one game. Please correct me since I couldn't watch the game, but Heft was freaking out before NWB made the jumper because they were once again standing around and not running any offense. A coach must put guys in a position to succeed.
3. If he isn't above criticism, you can't criticize others for criticizing Prohm, especially when the majority feels like Iowa State let's a game or two slip away. That would make you a hypocrite.
4.You seem to imply you have a wealth of Iowa State apparel. Why don't you donate $$$ to Africa and cut down on the amount of things you own? Materialism is over rated.

Calm response over.

The fact that this response has the amount of downvotes compared to the upvotes the OP has speaks volumes about the state of this forum and its users.

Why do we continue to do this to ourselves after every game?

Win - Prohm is great
Lose - Prohm sucks

Gets tiring

People keep ******** about this, but I don't see it that way. 90% of posts are about specific issues that Prohm DOES need to improve. I don't really see much all-or-nothing "fire the guy" type posts.

But people sure do love setting up those straw men and setting them on fire after wins...

Fred had some stinkers on the road as well.

I’ll admit I was getting frustrated when Tech came back to tie it. But that sequence that followed, with Babbs shot followed by the block by Mike and outlet to Shayok and Wiggs was beautiful.

The ending to last night wasn’t perfect by any means, but it says a lot that they were able to beat back the late run and close the game out.

So like you’ve done. You’re actually upset that we went on the road and won over the number 8 team in the country.

Think about that, and then try to pretend it’s not just about basketball.
