Facility improvements? Where's the money coming from? Big name coach? Where's the money coming from?
David Booth is their T. Boone Pickens. Billionaire that has donated 100's of millions to Kansas and Univ. of Chicago. KU just renamed their football stadium for him a couple of months ago.

I’m not sure miles wouldn’t be a Weiss retread....

Kansas fans really anticipating that they'll get miles. Be really impressive getting him when they couldnt even get a coordinator as a head coach last time around.

Les is 64 so maybe it's a chance to go somewhere and make them at least decent, be beloved by a fanbase for a while, and ride off into the sunset on a positive note.

Les seems to me like the one guy that could possibly turn it around and then basically hand it off to another younger coach to continue it.

They had one turnover. They only had 25 yards in penalties. They out-gained us on the ground. They were 7-17 on third down conversions. Their quarterback wasn't good, and being behind the whole game, they had to rely on him more than I would guess they hoped. Compare that to how we looked under Rhoads and MacCarney at the end. Three and out, three and out and put our poor defense back on the field defending a short field. I don't follow recruiting, so I'll take your word for it that he's not setting the world on fire, but that takes time to change, especially with poor facilities and a fickle fan base. My honest opinion after the game was they should be patient and trust the process. I was STUNNED when I read he had been fired. How much progress is it reasonable to expect in three and a half years with such a lack of support? A coaching change will move things backwards and I wouldn't be surprised if they're in a worse position 4 years from now.

The only reason that wasn't 48-3 or worse was that we were only interested in securing the win.

Or Les could get one last big pay day, try for a year or two and realize it’s hopeless. Then just mail it in until he retires or gets fired.

This may be an unpopular opinion but they could do a lot worse than Paul Rhoads.

The AD during his presser said they want someone who has head experience and knows how to build a program. There aren't too many of those guys oit there that were successful at building a program and are willing to take a KU job.

His tenure didn't finish well but CPR would be a decent hire given their needs. I think it's likely that you'll need that sort of hire to get the experience they are looking for. An upcomer from the smaller conferences is probably going to wait for a better opportunity or be someone who inherrited a solid situation like Toledo or Houston. Someone closer to end of their career like Pelini or CPR or Miles are the only sort of situations I think have the experience they want that will take it.

I know some of those won't fire up the fanbase like you want from a new coach, but frankly they've been that route with Weiss and maybe to some extent Gil.

I think you need to acknowledge that even in coaching candidates can learn amf get better from having failures. CPR had some issues at the end of his reign that I'm certain he learned from and would make him better as a head coach today, and frankly he helped move us to being a program where we are today before rumors of Big 12 implosion started coming and wheels started coming off in recruiting.

You could do much worse at KU.

It is sad that when I did a search for "potential Kansas head coaches" that I got several posts that were last week BEFORE we beat them and AFTER they beat TCU.

The writing on the wall on this firing has been been there a while. I do think they wanted to get the firing in BEFORE the K-State game in case he won next week. the new AD wants his guy and sees that the current situation is not getting better soon.

They are likely better off overpaying for a retread head coach than trying to lure a up and coming coach. I cannot see someone who thinks they have a future in the business wanting to go because of the paltry support. CMC knew that if he failed it would not be due to the fans.

Regardless of who they hire, we simply need to keep winning and challenging for Big 12 championships over the next seven years until the inevitable conference implosion when the current TV deals run out. KU will find a home due their basketball prowess but we need success in many sports not to become UConn or Cincinnati. We should not compare ourselves to Kansas football. Lets let KState and Baylor hang out with them.

I think they literally need to have Bill Self as their lead fundraiser....only way to get them over the hump. Maybe they do this, but somehow tie donations to bball perks.

Also, I was there Saturday...my friend text me and said "yell my name loud, I may hear it on tv" LOL

While Paul is a good guy, his defense at Arkansas was really, really bad. I know UCLA is in a transition but that defense looks awful too.

The Nichols State loss pretty much sealed he fate. That and that he had three wins total in the prior three seasons.

When you look at the west stands you see a lot of blue, and when you look closer you realize those spots of blue are not people, they are seat backs. They sure sold a ton of those in the stadium, but nobody shows up.

Did you? And did he?

I didn't...but I honestly thought about it as there were some "crowd" mics set up and I bet during a KU with the ball it would have worked. :)

Again, GREAT reminder of, even during our tough times, CycloneNation has always shown up and Campbell "gets" that
