I'm really glad you got a chance to talk to Royce and share it with us.

I'm still not 100% sure what the problem is, and what the solution is.

Kinda like a dog chasing a car; he doesn't really want the car, and he wouldn't know what to do with it if he caught it.

I enjoy listening to Royce and hearing his perspective. Thought it was funny when he said the "one of the best five players" comment was from a larger discussion that they didn't show, kind of taken out of context...then went on to say Draymond Green and Anthony Davis are trash, he's better than both of them and Kawhi Leonard!!

Fun to hear how much he enjoyed Iowa State and still follows the program, hope Royce and the rest of the Hilton Magic Legends win the whole thing!

What does he want to be changed? Specifically, what actions could the Rockets or the NBA have taken to make Royce happy? It is clear he is not happy how things went but it is hard for me to feel sorry for him. The guy signed a contract for $1.5M/year. Why couldn't he pay for whatever help he needed to play in the NBA? He likes to hear himself talk but he spends too much time saying nothing. I wish I could have kept track of the number of made-up words he used.

Please go back and list any made up words. I’m response to your question, it’s already been communicated a number of times that the “ask” was for a formal policy. That request was denied, even though a number of doctors from within the league agreed it was necessary. The NBPA director has now gone on the record saying their “negligence” is putting the lack of attention to this matter mildly. Is that not specific enough? Oh... btw this is Royce White.

On a side note you all can pretty much thank Royce for having to put up with my 10,000 posts. Joined long before that but had to go email some guy named Chris to reset my forgotten password so that I could post about a certain Drake game.

Royce was very articulate, I am not understand why some folks here are bashing him for using his vocabulary well. I had never heard Royce speak before this and came away impressed. what he wants is a cultural change in the NBA and worldwide around mental health, I agree. is he a top 5 player in the world right now, that might have been a stretch. Had that been the case his production on the floor would outweigh any of his off the court issues. I understand his point about brand management, but if you are putting up 20-10-8 every night you are going to be on the court. Period. That said I enjoyed listening to you Royce and wish you luck, your mission is honorable and desperately needed. Continue to champion the cause and thank you for being a Loyal Cyclone!

The thing Royce has never understood is nobody cares whether or not he's in the NBA. There's always going to be good players. It's one of the most competitive jobs in the world.

I think I’ve made my understanding that nobody cares if I’m in the NBA very transparent. I really don’t have a gripe with that, I’ve actually conceded that outcome a number of times. This conversation wasn’t about me being in the NBA, it was about morals, ethics and there role in the corporate culture. To delineate further your later point... there isn’t “Always going to be good players.” The Toronto Raptors just proved that.

1. Not every tangent was regarding mental health, but you knew that.

2. Yes, I absolutely think that. You don’t know what happened or why Butler said that about Fred. I don’t think either are necessary. Time and places, I suppose.

3. I scored points than Brandon Myers one time, and he ended up in the NFL for 8 years. I didn’t.

Above all else, I still would love to hear what you think about the solutions to the mental health problems. I know you talked about policy, but can you elaborate? I’ve dealt with mental health as well and I’d like to hear what your thoughts on some fixes. In general, it needs more attention throughout society - I think that is absolutely the case.

Thank you, I appreciate your support. One of the earlier comments posited “socialist brainwashing” as a prognosis of my mental health issues... what he seems to overlook is how resent has historically been the catalyst of tyrannical socialist regimes. One of it’s consistent characteristics takes shape in the form of hatred of the competent from the incompetent. Intellectual shaming is definitely a red herring of a decadent society and of bankruptcy of philosophical currency.

Do you believe the competent take to fan boards for mid-level college athletics programs to defend themselves and bloviate?

You take yourself way too seriously, dude.

Can I ask what you mean by... “what policy”? There was no mental health policy in the NBA, there still is no mental health policy in the NBA. I’m not sure what’s being missed.

Policy - a course or principle of action adopted or proposed by a government, party, business, or individual.

I i have a hard time taking Royce seriously with a lot of the stuff he says.

At one point he claims it was “egregiois” the ncaa didn’t grant him a waiver to play in the 2010-11 season completely ignoring the fact that he was dismissed from Minnesota for a theft and disorderly conduct charge at the mall of America in the fall and then a trespassing charge in the spring in connection with a stolen laptop.

The guy makes some good points on mental health but can’t seem to take ownership for any of his own mistakes in life.

I’m not sure what ALL competent people do. I’m pretty sure it varies significantly. However, I’m very comfortable in my belief that competent people should show up wherever there is a conversation, especially in places where there is a toxic culture of blurting... Like in “fan boards for mid-level college athletic programs”. Your characterization of the fan boards actually prompts to me ask what exactly are you doing here in the forum, if the level of the ISU athletic program quantifies cyclone fanatic engagement as arbitrary?

Royce. You're a public figure. You will have detractors and supporters. You have not earned my respect. You were a hell of a player for us though and I appreciate your time at Iowa State.

I am on this forum because I am an Iowa State fan.

Bolded portion is bloviating. Pose your question in a simple, understandable manner and I will answer it.

He could be one of the most well-spoken people ever but I'd still have a hard time taking him seriously. He's a dumb kid overcompensating with big words desparately trying to convince people that he has a message worth listening to, but at some point actions matter more than messages.

It’s hysterically ironic that you characterize me as a “dumb kid” who’s overcompensating with big words... and then proceed to post a article from a gossip magazine like COMPLEX. Wow, decadence!

Yeah, there are a lot of different policies. I know that. I’m wondering what kind of policy you would like to be in place? If I told you I had a policy for my kids eating, you wouldn’t have any clue what I was talking about unless I told you the exact policy. Like “they have to finish their meat before they leave the table. That’s the policy.”

I want to know your thoughts on what the policy should be.
