The “Push”

Everyone trying to turn this into something should be embarrassed, I mean paper bag over your head with a dunce cap on top embarrassed.

The problem is they are trying to publicly crucify a fan who literally did nothing wrong what so ever. Do people not realize there is a person at the other end of this who may be effected? This kid does not deserve to be the scapegoat for the fact they have a crappy basketball program...

Pretty sad. Iowa fans doing this should be ashamed

In all honesty, its not getting that much traction on the Iowa Rivals page. Few responses, and many of those who are responding are brushing it off or defending the kid. There are of course a few irrational posters, and one who appears totally off the rails when it comes to any argument involving Iowa basketball. But for the most part the Hawk fans, on that site at least, appear to be uninterested or acting reasonable to me.

My biggest beef is with the guy who sent the original tweet. Its obviously edited to make the kid look as bad as possible. Trying to publicly humiliate the kid even had it been intentional would be totally over the top, but doing so in a misleading way when its, as worst, ambiguous, is just plain wrong. And this is a guy who is supposed to understand and work with young people?

Would be cool to send this kid on an all expense paid trip to the Liberty Bowl for having to put up with this nonsense from the Tavern Hawk Des Moines media and their jealous fans.

First time I've seen this angle of the incident, after seeing this I'd say it was totally uncalled for and dangerous.

Gray shirt kid is our secret assassin, waiting in the shadows for a player to fall into his trap, and then he strikes.
The assasin didn’t do nearly enough damage. (If I need the our pirate friend shame on you.)

Some HOT TAKES over at HawkeyeNation about this "cheap shot"

"It's simple, if the clown athletic department won't do anything to improve the situation Iowa should refuse to play anymore games there. He had the hot hand, and it looked like that was an intentional cheap shot to take him out of the game. This should not be allowed to happen."

"Like I've said 1000 times, don't give me this "Ames and Iowa City aren't that different" crap. Plenty of aggie troglodytes up there. This is merely the latest example."

"Thug life, just like Prohm's players, a bunch of gangsta's. ISU just plain sucks, delusional freaks"

There are two people in the wrong in all of this, Nick Trankamp employee of Central Community Schools and Travis Justice employee of KXNO.

Certainly not Pemsl for going hard after a rebound and ending up in the stands (hopefully his injury ends up not being serious) and none of the students standing in the first row.

Their football fans were known for throwing cigarrette butts at players in the Fry years.

I was in the ISUCF'V'MB and we traveled to Kinnick in 2000 and 2002 while I was in band. We had full cans of beer thrown at the band and full drinks poured on us from the student section one year. So that was fun. My section prepped to go on the field for pregame right in front of the student section as well and I told my band mates to stay as far away from the stands as possible or they would take your horn, hat, whatever they could get their hands on. Some of the smaller female section members were visibly shaken.

After both games, we walked back to our buses through tailgating lots and had grown ass adults yelling obscenities. It didn't help that Seneca undressed the hoks in the second half in 2002.

So any high an mighty hawk fans who think their fans are so classy, can suck a fat one.

When I first saw something about this I was really worried.

Then I saw the video clips. Now I just wonder how someone like Travis can be so pathetic.

A player goes flying into the stands towards legs and you are upset a fan bends over and puts two hands on the player with little to no force in reaction to the collision. If anything KXNO should give Travis a suspension for a couple days for going after the kid/fan (I don't actually think this, buts its less of a stretch than saying the fan should be barred from Hilton).

Well because of Travis being a douche there are probably a good number of hawk fans who are riled up and looking to go after the kid. So that's a lot more than just making something about nothing for Travis.

Travis was whining about how Iowa lost, we didn’t win. What a waste of blubber.

Dribbling and catching the ball is part of the sport. ISU is pretty good at that. Iowa is off the charts bad and possibly the only point guard free team I remember seeing. End of analysis.

That bothers me the most. This guy is Superintendent/Principal. Not setting a good example for kids in his school at all.
