enCYCLONEpedia: Time to believe

Would it kill you to predict a Cyclone victory every so often Kirk. You are usually the one who predicts "same ol Cyclones" attitude in your prognostications. At least this article explains why you do so.

That isn't my prediction... it is the prediction from the algorithm used at cfbanalytics.com (the college football data site I run with Dan Becker).

Nice article, and yes a lot of us feel that way.

All I can think of when you talk about manufacturing ways to lose games is KSU. In the last decade at least 6 or 7 of those games have come down to making one freaking play, and ISU pee down their leg every time. That is the game that I want the worst, because it has gotten to the point where it has to look like a curse to fans of other teams. KSU has to be laughing their Butts off at the end of year, because the Cyclones always send their Christmas gift early.

Actually, I did realize that after I sent it. I think it's been "duped" by ISU's heart and team chemistry. Algorithms make bad relationship partners because they can't predict that.

Regardless, still wouldn't kill you to predict an ISU victory in your own right

Not going to lie. 1st thought when we scored late against OU was that we left too much time on the clock...

The workman approach by this team to dismantling KU the following week and then going on the road and marching right back down the field for a TD after giving up a bad int and short TD drive has gone a long ways to breaking the Lucy syndrome for me.

Great article. I feel the same way as you. I think the great thing about Matt Campbell is that he has a quiet but powerful confidence about him. It's finally getting bought in by the players and it's time we do as well. When the Tech game was 24-13 and Tech driving I was like here we go again. But then Marcel Spears Jr. stepped up with a play that basically said "Don't fret Cyclone Nation, we got this."

One thing if we lose this weekend- it would not be another Charlie Brown, typical ISU moment. It’s not a sign of same old, same old. TCU is #4 for a reason. It’s perfectly normal for any fanbase to think they’d lose.

It’s already been framed as another nut kick. If losing to the #4 team is a nut kick, then sports are probably not for you. That is a very narcissistic, woe-is-Iowa State view on being an underdog in a big game imo.

I thought the UT was a big game. We lost and it will bother me for a long while, but a nut kick it wasn’t.

I know Kirk does predictive analytics, but he has his limitations

I am assuming he would have let the coaches know by now, or do they learn live tomorrow like the rest of us. Hope he has three hats in front of him tomorrow.

**** you Lucy. We are overdue.

Empirically speaking, our algorithm assigns .15 points per possession for teams with "Good" or "Great" heart and .58931 points per possession for teams who exhibit "Outstanding" chemistry.

But don't ask me, it's not like I do this for a living.

Agree here...the only thing that would be nut-kickish is if TCU shreds ISU and it's a crazy blowout but I think ISU can make it interesting which is still a positive sign that this thing is sustainable.

Maybe it helps that I don't mind TCU as a program.

Then it should never be wrong.
