Fred Was not that good at recruiting either. He got some great transfers that helped us. George was a good recruit, not great at the time. Matt Thomas was the one we were all excited about. Monte was a good recruit, not great. So we shall see how some of these kids we do have develop or if they are better than expected..

Mr. Basketball in Michigan isn't great?
We need better recruiting. This is obvious that Prohm is struggling.Mark me down as concerned and getting more concerned as each kid we recruit signs elsewhere.

I know it's not the popular opinion because *gasp* it's critical of something Cyclone, but it's becoming more clear that we need to pony up and pay for a guy that can go out and finish these jobs. Otz had "it". This staff, outside of pulling in Wigginton, has not shown the ability to put the nail in the coffin despite "being in great position" so many times. The amount of failure this summer pulling in transfers to an ideal situation for said transfer, combined with missing out on a guy (and not the first of his kind) we'd been recruiting for a few years then losing him to a school that recruited him for a few months...it's become pretty damn rough.
Flame away. Make excuses such as "not a make or break recruit" or "felt like a Big 10 guy" or "we've still got a lot of guys and it'll be a great class". Failed recruiting is becoming a troubling trend. Would love to be wrong of course.

It feels like a novice operation that doesn't know how to break through.

Everyone who writes "I'd love to be wrong" almost always wants to be right but is condescending.
Here's the thing. Coaches are not stupid despite what we think. You seem that think you are the first one to say that prohm needs recruits. You probably think that if only he'd listen to you, he'd know the secret to success.
I guarantee that prohm isn't going out there and saying "well ****, who cares?"
Freaking out over this crap does nothing. Let it play out. If he sucks, he'll get fired. (Or in the long tradition of Iowa state coaches, he'll just end up with a much better job.)

You think I'd like to be right in this situation? To see Prohm fail? That's a heck of a reach.
Why do I "seem that think you are the first one to say prohm needs recruits"? What does that even mean?
My opinion is straight forward and there is no "freaking out over this crap" in my post. I posted a level-headed opinion. We've seen things play out. They'll continue to play out. My point is that it seems apparent we need to pay to have a recruiting specialist on staff. We do not have a recruiting specialist on staff.
You are the reason fanatical sites like this one can be insufferable - opposing opinions are lambasted. Have you considered the other side? Are you capable of considering the other side?

The problem with your post is none of us want to see that. We have great momentum in the program right now and need to continue that. Prohm is a great coach but we desperately need a great recruiter on the staff along with him. If we let the recruiting issues continue and they lead to poor performance on the court, we have missed a big opportunity as a program.
