NBA: ***Official NBA Draft and Offseason Thread***

Really starting to sound like the Lakers might pass on Ball, either that or they are intentionally trying to float that notion. I don't think there's any way he falls out of the top five though.

Here's to hoping he ends up in Sacramento or Minnesota. Hopefully will cause Lavar's head to explode.

Nothing says out of sight, out of mind in the NBA like being a King. That's gotta be Lavar's worst case scenario, though Hield and him would be a fun backcourt offensively. I go back and forth on whether or not he would be a good fit for Philly. He's not really a ball dominant guard so I think he could play next to Simmons.

I agree with you on Hayward to Boston. Seems like a no brainer given the connection between him and Stevens. The Josh Jackson thing is what throws me for a loop. I doubt the Celtics are promising anything to anyone, which leaves the Lakers and Sixers. He doesn't make much sense for the Sixers, who don't need another long athlete who doesn't shoot well. They need perimeter scoring. That leaves the Lakers, but then how far does Lonzo fall?
The Ball retread glue and stitched sneakers are not selling that well. Ball was out of shape. Dad needs to get the weight off from his kid. I predict LA passes on Ball.

I think that's the way to go, especially now with the possibility that Lebron James bolts for LA (I don't think it will happen, but if he does then just like that Boston's biggest obstacle is out of the way).

But just for ***** and giggles, say Danny Ainge gets word that Anthony Davis wants out of New Orleans before the draft next week. How much would it take to pry the Brow out of New Orleans? The first pick this year plus players? The first pick this year plus the right to swap picks with the Nets pick in 2018? All of the above? A core of IT, Bradley, Crowder, Davis, and Horford...is that enough to take the next step?

Edit: I know I'm essentially ignoring league rules and salary cap implications. This is just for kicks.
Lebron complained he has never played on a super team. Wait till he gets to the Lakers or Clippers.

Here's the scenario I heard on the radio yesterday on the way home from work, and it would be Lamar Ball's worst nightmare:

1. The Boston Celtics obviously aren't drafting Lonzo as Lamar refused to let him work out for them.

2. It's the Lakers that have told Jackson they're drafting him. Combine that with the fact Lonzo had a bad workout with the Lakers, it's looking more and more like he's not going there.

3. IT's been rumored that the Kings want to move up to the #3 pick, trading Philadelphia their #5 and #10 picks because they have "their guy" in mind - and it's not Lonzo.

4. The Phoenix Suns are already guard heavy - they're not drafting Lonzo.

5. Philadelphia could possibly draft Lonzo here. If this alone happens, imagine how much money Lamar's mouth has cost him. But who says Philly will draft him?

6. Orlando: Lamar nightmare

7. Minnesota: even worse Lamar nightmare

8. New York: while most sane people would consider this an ideal place to start a career, especially one so into marketing his son, Lamar isn't sane and doesn't want his son to go to the east cost, so this is yet another Lamar nightmare.

9. Dallas: Lamar nightmare, ya'll.

10. Philadelphia.

I mean, this could get very fun very quickly. I hold nothing against Lonzo himself as he seems to be a fairly normal kid with a clown for a father, but, at this point, who doesn't want to see Lamar get humbled?

I kind of like Lonzo in Philly. Good fit where can initiate the offense, run the break or play off the ball.

The Kings would be crazy to move out of the five spot, unless they're dead set on one specific guy and they want to be sure they get him.

Looks like the celtics and 76ers are swapping picks. Celtics also getting another 1st as part of the deal.

After a few days reflecting, it has became more and more evident what this Cavs team was missing. It was missing heart. It was missing grit. It was missing defense. It was missing diving on the floor. It was missing full court press. It was missing a leader. It was missing DELLY! I knew it was a horrible decision not to pay him. Should have traded Love for a top 10 pick last year smfh.

I really hope the Lakers pass on Ball. Fox will end up being a better player anyways

Don't think Philly is trading up to get Jackson, it has to be for Fultz

That's what it sounds like right now.

I don't really care about the NBA Draft, so I just want it to be as entertaining as possible, so I'm rooting for the Lakers to snub the Ball family and hope he goes to Sacramento. That would be fun.

If, and that's a huge if, Philly is healthy and can roll out a Fultz, Simmons, Covington, Saric, Embiid starting line up next year, that's a team that's really interesting. That's a lot of length, and that's what's given the Warriors trouble at times, the Bucks have been pretty average the last couple years but they can throw out some super long lineups and have held their own against the Warriors as much as anyone else.

That's where the league is headed too, the counter to small ball is going to be teams that can throw out big line ups that can all guard on the perimeter too. But those guys are hard to find and not cheap to sign.

I generally don't care about the Draft either, but I'm really interested in the prospects of what may or may not happen to Lonzo Ball (and by extension Lavar) that evening. And where Monte Morris will end up.

Maybe I'm missing a joke but I thought it was Lavar Ball?

Phoenix absolutely wouldn't pass on Lonzo if he's available at 4. They want to move Bledsoe and drafting Ball would allow them to do that without taking a step back at point.
