Mizzou

No, I don't. I remember when they were a very good fan base. They had a very big rivalry with Kansas, more so than we do now. Missouri was very much a basketball school. Those fans haven't died, or moved on, they just didn't pay to watch a single digit win team.

They might as well of dropped the sport when they moved to the SEC. The great rivalries in the Big8 and Big12 made basketball in the region fun. With those gone, Mizzourah is going to have a hard time getting a fanbase energized.

I agree, if this Martin/Porter experiment doesn't work. However, those big 12 fans are still there, and are looking for something to energize them, especially when their football program is struggling as well.

I'm not saying it's gunna be like Hilton for the next 5 years, but I'm certain their fans will show much better than the last 4, and it will be full for the Iowa St game.

I've been in KC for 2 years. You're wrong.
MU fans care more about what KU fans think of their program than actually caring about the program. KC has always distorted the perception of how the state cares about Missouri athletics. They are now on OU level in terms of caring about basketball.

The burden of proof is on you and Wasted. A basketball school doesn't have the absolute horrendous attendance Missouri has had, regardless of record.

Yeah, generally you shouldn't talk smack about a team that will quite possibly beat us next year. They had a 4 year blip with a bad coach, but this isn't like football where it takes 4 years to build a program.

They could easily be a tourney team in the next 1-2 years with the talent Martin will bring in.

Do you realize we are walking into Columbia with a 9 game losing streak against them? We probably shouldn't act like they're an embarrassment to college basketball.
This is laughable. You have a serious case of butthurt, as you like to say, if you think that's smack. Sorry, but being an Iowa State fan doesn't have anything to do with the comment. Missouri has been very bad and this kid had his choice of schools. It doesn't matter what he based his decision on, but it obviously wasn't winning and being an ISU fan is completely irrelevant to that observation. I don't know if you're that spineless or you just lost your mind for a moment, but JFC.

The Kim Anderson era was a joke.
We'll see about the Conzo Martin era. I for one am glad Porter Jr went there because it make ISU's first game that more interesting win or lose.
I don't think any of us get upset about where Porter plays for one year either. If Prohm would have hired a dad to get the #1 recruit in America we'd all be excited.
I'd actually feel bad for the kid if he committed to Washington and Romar & his dad were fired yet Michael would be forced to play there. He committed to his Dad and His local team, which many of us would have done.
Just don't see the reason for outrage about it, especially cause he'd be likely going to UK, NC or UK instead of Mizzou.

Ok lol, you sound like you're 15, so we can agree to disagree.

I work with a ton of Mizzou fans, and you're wrong. If you want proof, come on down. A few of the people I work with still are season ticket holders, but don't go to weeknight games because it's not worth the 3.5 hours of travel to inevitably watch Missouri suck and loose. Sports talk radio down here has been an equal split between Mizzou basketball, KU in the tourney, and Royals the last 2 weeks. To say Mizzou doesn't care about basketball is ignorant.

Great story, and I'm sure your Missouri fan coworkers care about Missouri. Go figure, right? But given the attendance struggles perhaps it's your view that's distorted. Sports radio will milk any contentious issue for ratings and KU-MU is still alive. Without KU it gets quiet real quick. Travel around the state. They're still a large state school so there will be some support, when they win, but Missouri isn't a basketball school anymore.

Yeah well you're very wrong, but it's pretty obvious no one is going to convince you otherwise.

The KU-MU rivalry rarely gets talked about on radio. In fact, the only time I recall hearing anything about it was for a hockey game a few months ago played between the two. They hate each other, yes, but their obsession over one another is nothing like it is up in Iowa.

You don't fork over the cash they did for a coach if you're "not a basketball school anymore". Obviously there are high end donors that disagree with you.

This is no different than KU hiring Manning's dad (pretty sure that is the right player). hire the dad get the son/daughter let them be an assistant for 1-4 yrs rinse and repeat.
And more recently there was the Mom of Thomas (forget the last name but was a stud for them) she got a sweet job in the KU basketball offices. Robertson maybe?

I work with a bunch of Mizzou fans as well and they're about as fan weather fans as there is...couldn't have cared less the last few years but now they're all excited again. You watch, Cuonzo starts winning and they'll be a basketball school again. Especially if the football team starts losing.

They are more of a football school first, but, for basketball, they are the definition of fair-weather fans.

I have lived in KC for 22 years now. I know plenty of Missouri fans that have picked up their season tickets again. Missouri basketball attendance isn't going to instantly go crazy, but the fans are extremely optimistic. If nothing else, their students should return, which would breathe life back into their program.

Give them a little taste of success and the rest will start filling the stands pretty regularly.

Also, Mizzou and KU still hate each other, but the rivalry doesn't exist anymore. Sports radio doesn't talk about it at all. I have heard more talk about MU basketball in the past month than in the previous 4 years though.

As far as our game against them, I think it will be a toss up. We have the distinct coaching advantage, but Prohm is still going to be tinkering with everything like he has the past two seasons. I'll be fairly surprised if we have as large of a contingent of fans there as some people are expecting, especially with a home football game the next day. And there are plenty of old school Missouri fans that want to validate their move to the SEC and will show up to support their team.

It's a toss up. They have Porter, but we should have the advantage in the back court.

Everyone will be tuning in to see Porter (for good reason), but Wigginton will want to prove something too.

Looking forward to it.

I am too.. unless Mizzou also gets Blake Harris and/or Kevin Knox.. then I'm nervous. Don't necessarily think that's likely tho.. I hope

5-Star big man Jeremiah Tilmon (#25 overall) just asked to be released from his Illinois LOI...yep, he is now listed as a MIssou probable. I wonder if a Tilmon relative is joining the Missou coaching staff?
