Race Thompson

I cannot understand how anybody with options would want to attach their name to Rape U.

Drew and the BB team weren't involved in that. Baylor has had their share of problems, but Drew hasn't been involved in any of that. Near as I can tell he is a decent coach and person.
I think Baylor handled the FB scandal about as poorly as they could but Drew and company all they can do is pit their head down and soldier on. Look how quickly PSU has bounced back and that was their staff doing the raping of juveniles.

Mulkey, on the other hand, just made herself part of it.

Yes she did. That statement was totally tone deaf, I was surprised how poorly that was worded. She needs to say something like. I'll watch out for your daughters if they chose to come here, our FB program and Admin has been purged and we are trying to build a safer campus for our young women. But her denial of" it's like every other campus" won't fly except for the most ardent Baylor supporters. IMO the hardest part of these problems is separating the athletics from the university itself. If ISU ever ***** up that bad, I hope heads would roll and we wouldn't gloss it over. The LE problem was a close as we've come in my opinion, looking back maybe he had to be let go, to bottom out to save himself. I don't know if he would have listened if they would have just sent him to rehab. He certainly has turned it around though and I'm glad.

We'll likely need this thread to get to 200 pages and at least 50 of those will be us ******** at each other for bumping the thread without new info. I'm optomistic that we can get this done, but we still have a long row to hoe team.

PS - Come to Ames Race, we have the best water.

Bump :)

exactly. i lived in this circle for 19 years and there is absolutely no comparison between ISU and Minnesota in terms of passion, knowledge, or fandom. The Gophers may sell some tshirts but down here you see about 1/5 cars with ISU/Hawkeye plates. Up there I maybe saw one, ever, Gopher plate.

To me Minnesota always felt like a commuter school. The campus was right in the heart of Minneapolis, and was always so full of students and people in general it seems like it would be difficult to develop strong feelings for UMinn, separate from general love of Minneapolis and St. Paul. I had a bunch of Minnesota transplants in chemical engineering at ISU and they said the feel of the universities was night and day. One felt like home and the other felt like a workplace.

Sorry...you really did ask politely, but I can't do that. They'd think I was crazy.
Yes, they would. Just to explain - My daughter's tennis coach had an entertaining story during the year-end banquet. He was basically complimenting the behavior of our players by contrasting them to one girl on the Armstrong team that kept dropping F-bombs. You don't hear too many of those in girls JV tennis.

Prohm visited last Friday..Race was in Waco for the Kstate game and I believe he'll be in Ames for the game against the Bears. Baylor is probably his favorite at this point from what I'm hearing. Race and his family really like Prohm and I know they watch every Cyclone game so I'd say we're very much in the running.
I heard that Drew is in the running for the N.C. State job. Would Race still be interested in Baylor then?

I heard Drew and Indiana, too. That one would make even more sense given the Drew family has its roots in Indiana in Valparaiso, between Gary and Sound Bend.

I think the risk then is that Thompson goes with Drew to Bloomington or Raleigh, however, particularly the former for still being close, if that were to happen.

Both are actually nice towns, too, like is Ames. Way nicer than Waco.

Drew at IU would be a bigger concern than at BU imo
