Race Thompson

I heard drew and Indiana, too. That one would make even more sense given the Drew family has its roots in Indiana in Valparaiso, between Gary and Sound Bend.

I think the risk then is that Thompson goes with Drew to Bloomington or Raleigh, however, particularly the former for still being close, if that were to happen.

Both are actually nice towns, too, like is Ames. Way nicer than Waco.

There are some rumors that Drew is open to leaving Baylor due to the athletic departments handling of the Briles issue. He didn't like the cover up, school image etc.

I could also see Drew ready for a new challenge especially at a school that is basketball first Indiana or NC St would qualify. (plus the potential payday)
Right now I don't see him leaving but it would be interesting to see what Baylor would do if Drew left.
Was it the school, location, religious affiliation getting talented players or was is it Drew?

Had to be Drew.

I'm on the record calling this shot. Drew would be a great fit at IU and the move would make perfect sense.

So Race has been here for an unofficial visit then? What game did he attend?
He attended a football game this fall. One of the games that Georges was back for, also he hung out with Georges and he was showing him around. I just dont see Baylor as a contender.

I think Baylor would almost have to go the mid major route. Probably a guy that is looking to move up to the power 5, but not good enough to get the big time jobs. So like a Dan Muller at Illinois St, but probably not Greg Marshall or Archie Miller.

I don't see any current power 5 coaches looking to make a lateral move because Baylor has been top 25 lately. I just think the negativity surrounding the school is really gunna turn off some bigger names.

Does anyone realize how bad of shape Baylor was in before they hired Drew? The previous coach covered up a murder by his own player. We might think he looks like a used car salesman but what he's done there is remarkable.

Can't trust anything at that school.

It would be Drew, Baylor was BAD at sports until Mulkey, Briles, Drew. Briles fall from grace isn't helping the other 2. Mulkey went tone deaf stupid a week ago at a after game presser. I think Drew would/will succeed wherever he goes. It will make the B12 easier if he leaves but I like the competiveness that he brings to the conference plus I think he is a stand up individual.

We give Drew a hard time about his timeouts, but he seems like a good guy and good coach. I'll never forget him rooting ISU on in the NCAA tourney a couple years ago.

Nothing surprising, but see where Race is visiting at Gopher game tonight along with several others, including AJ Green (the guy who visited us but is said to be not coming here). They have re-energized their fan base/atmosphere to say the least. Have to hope Race develops a better relationship with Prohm vs. Pittino. I don't get it, but why when they put the camera on little Pitino during games, does it give me the 'willies'?

If they keep building/progressing is Pitino going to stay? I can't imagine he views Minnesota as a destination. I'm sure that will be a selling point for teams that are recruiting against him.

I worry for the conference if we lose the pedigree of a guy like Drew. I think the Underwood/Huggins/Smart model would fully take hold and it would degrade the conference with 1/2 the teams playing that brand of "basketball".
What's wrong with Underwood?

I feel like we will win the Race

That was so awesome. IIRC he went into the ISU lockeroom after we just beat UNC and said "way to go Cyclones!" I still laugh at his timeout selection but he seems like a good guy and turned around a terrible Baylor basketball program.
