Over a dozen of these just came up through our drain as I was doing the dishes. Freaked me the **** out. Then they started FLYING all over the kitchen. It was like the plagues of Egypt.

Apparently these infestations are a thing every few years in Texas if the conditions are right. What the hell?

Don't you make like, $250k per year?

Not quite.... but you don't become wealthy by spending money. I am only home 3-4 days a week so why would I spend the money for an apartment by myself? Plus 2 of the other 3 are also have traveling jobs and thought the same thing. We always have someone there so the place isn't empty during the week and everyone saves money. Win-win. Gives me more money for fun things.

First school soccer practice for our 11 year old as well tonight. They have 23 players on the varsity squad because they didn't want to go to asking 5th graders to play if they formed a varsity and a JV squad. Most of the other schools in the league don't have JV teams so they would play varsity squads pretty much every week anyway. I think they had the only JV team last year which made for a rough season.

I'm curious if they will have some players on that deep of a bench who will rarely if ever see the pitch. Some are definitely not ready to play middle school (6th through 8th) soccer.
That seems like a bunch for a soccer team. Also, I can't believe I typed 11 year old. My daughter is 10 until January. Stupid brain.

Todays entrance requirements. Guess I'd still get in but seem to remember it being just HS rank and ACT way back in the day.

Students who wish to enter Iowa State University directly from high school will be admitted based upon their Regent Admission Index (RAI) score. There are two mathematical formulas for computing student's RAI scores, the primary RAI formula (for students whose high school provides class rank) and the Alternative RAI formula (for students whose high school does not provide class rank). Below is a detailed description of each formula:

Primary RAI Formula
(for students whose high school provides class rank)
Alternative RAI Formula
(for students whose high school does NOT provide class rank)

Percentile class rank x 1
+ ACT composite score x 2
+ Cumulative GPA x 20
+ Number of years of high school core courses x 5
RAI score ACT composite score x 3
+ Cumulative GPA x 30
+ Number of years of high school core courses x 5
RAI score

Note: For purposes of calculating the RAI, SAT scores will be converted to ACT composite equivalents; high school rank is expressed as a percentile with 99% as the top value; high school GPA is expressed on a 4-point scale; and number of high school courses completed in the core subject areas is expressed in terms of years or fractions of years of study.
Applicants who achieve at least a 245 RAI score and who meet the minimum high school course requirements will automatically be offered admission. Applicants who achieve less than a 245 RAI score and who meet the minimum high school course requirementsmay also be offered admission, but their applications will be reviewed on an individual basis.
