we shall see ;) I could really put a wrench in things if I chose to do that now. The downside is I'd have to train somebody to do what I'm currently doing and I really don't want to do that. I'd prefer they get their **** together and get it automated.

oh yeah, we're going to Montreal in a month. Just a few days though. Gotta save that time off for spring.

Not intending to sound judgy, but I can't imagine planning family around work tasks. The company can deal with that part of things.

I have brought up doing a weekend trip to Canada to my wife recently. Why did you decide on Montreal?

oh no, I'm not doing that. At this point it's more of a "I could really screw things up" line of thinking. I am positive my manager has had that thought once or twice. Though the further these deadlines get pushed back, the more it becomes a possibility. At which point I'll be like hey, I planned a vacation around them and they still couldn't respect that. Like hell I'm having kids on a schedule of theirs that will probably change anyway.

Though I really, really don't want to train someone in on one of my projects. That will suck so much. So I will be super pissed if we get to the point where that has to happen because vendor is like 2 years behind on their deadline and still hasn't gotten the part I need done.

Give them the training I got on a job once. Just tell them you're available for questions and scream whenever they ask. You won't have to bother because they'll stop asking.

Of course, they might think of dropping you to the floor, but that's not everybody's first thought.

I visited in college. Beautiful city with lots of gorgeous old buildings and lots to do. Very walkable city. Another couple friend of ours went there last year for their honeymoon. They loved it as well. I need to get food recs from them since I didn't get to eat in the city a ton. I was there for a convention so several of my meals were provided for/quick fast food type lunches. It was a very romantic feeling city and I just remembered thinking as I was there that I needed to come back with DH someday.

that's..........disturbing.

I imagine it going poorly for me if I don't properly train someone in. It's already not great that I have no backup and am literally the only person who knows how to do this process that is very important to the company. We started talking about training a backup like 18 months ago but then we started working with this vendor so it seemed silly for something that would be obsolete in six months. Hahahahahahahahahaha. So getting it automated SOON is in everyone's best interest. I shall not scream at anyone.

Out loud.

Then you're not passionate enough about your work.

this project with this vendor will never be done. We finally got a realistic timeline out of them and it's early next spring if everything goes well with zero delay. Hahahahaha. The PM is like I think they've just been telling us what we want to hear in regards to all the other completely blown deadlines. Yeah, kinda figured on that one already.

I mean, that's what I've been thinking anyway because I was already fairly certain the end of this year wasn't feasible anyway.

At what point do I mention to my manager that DH and I are seriously contemplating a trip abroad for a good portion of late May/early June so that I can be off the hook for that now when May 1st rolls around and they are like whoopsies, we need to work with CG during that time frame like they did with our trip this summer? Maybe I'll do that on our work trip next week.

I suppose coworker just spent 2-3 weeks out of the country and they worked on other stuff even though they needed to work with her. Whatevs, coworker already pushed that trip back six months because of an accident and they were aware well in advance.

TGIF.
Where overseas? If you're travelling to Syria I'm probably obliged to report it.
