Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

Thanks for the birthday wishes.

Unfortunately having maybe the worst birthday ever. :(:(:( The city guys were trimming back trees on the streets and before I noticed what was happening they absolutely destroyed the decades old white cedars that screen my house from the alley. I am literally sick to my stomach. 30 years of green gone in 5 minutes. It's going to probably run at least $2000 to $4000 for new plants and a cedar fence and that will not even begin to replace what they cut.
Oh no!!! I feel your pain. I came home from work one day to a note from the power company that while they were trimming my poplars away from the line (without notifying me first) they noticed that "one was diseased, so we went ahead and cut all 8 of them down for you. You're welcome". Those poplars were healthy, and formed an excellent screen between us and the psycho ***** teenage girls that lived in the house behind ours. Boooo to trimmers that overstep.

The power company cut down more than they had to?!? I don't believe it! I don't rake up one more leaf than I have to. (not true)

Those bastards!

I understand that it is probably a cost issue, but why can't they hire qualified professionals rather then hatchetmen* to do this work. It is sickening to see what is done to some trees around power lines and at the edges of streets.

*pun unintended

****, sorry to hear that Boxster can you get the city to cover the replacement costs?

Here, they trim away from lines at no cost to homeowners, then leave the rest of it to other crews like us. Can't believe they wasted their time like that cutting it all the way down.
I wasn't there when they did it; they might have brought someone else in, but seems like that would have taken more time?

@BoxsterCy I'm assuming anyone can go to the alumni game watches? My brother will probably be up helping me move my stuff from storage in Mason on Saturday and I might try to get him to stick around and go to a game watch with me.

Pants, Alumni Association holds them all are welcome. Well it would be easier on him if he didn't wear his tiger hawk shirt;)

All they have to do is call any tree a danger tree, and it's gone. Nothing you can do about it, except maybe chain yourself to the trees.

But which location do you go to???

That's pretty much what we were told - that we had no recourse whatsoever. Another reason we moved out of the "big city" to our acreage. :)

Everyone apparently hates the locations but no one has better spots. I actually like both spots but I might be the only one. People don't like Senser's because it isn't all ISU all of the time and we sometimes have space conflicts with other school (talking about you Nebraska!). They don't like Uptown cause the staff has not been great or responsive and parking is a pain and it's not really set up as a sports bar with uber big screens.

I like Senser's because of the big screens and the fact the manager has been really accommodating to us for years. If I was a 20-something I'd probably like Uptown better. I think the food is better at Uptown, Senser's food isn't very good.

So, Pants, in conclusion: If you want to watch the game come to Sensers'. If you and your bro want to chase skirts you should go to Uptown. Uptown will be convenient to your new home digs.

Completed test run #9 with new gel metatarsal pad inserted. Uncertain if they helped or not. Best times so far. Time for beer and foot icing.

31 days till Twin Cities 5K. Looked at course, first 1/2 mile is uphill then does rollypolly on Summit Ave but finishes down hill. Looks like a slow course. Couldn't help looking at what runners in my age group ran it in last year. Most were pretty slow but a couple respectable times. I will not be embarrassed.
