Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

When the Dedric Willoughby teams were playing in the NCAA's I went with a group to watch one of the games at a dive sports bar in Minneapolis. This one guy kept following me into the bathroom and after about the third time he started to strike up a conversation. The next time I went in he told me I had a nice, athletic build. That's not generally something you want to hear when you're standing in front of a urinal in a men's room.

After reading this I'm more concerned for your health. At least 4 rest room breaks in one 2 hour game? Prostate check time. Or you were shotgunning beers.

You said the guy followed you? He just stood there and watched?

Remember no toe tapping if you're straight, or is that just airports?
He stood at the urinal next to me.

The airport thing involves the placement of luggage as it relates to the stall.

A couple of years ago, the St Paul Saints minor league baseball team commemorated the Twin Cities most famous airport event by giving away this Larry Craig bobblehead.

Was going to say, some dude watches me use the facilities....I will turn and use the facilities on him.

Thanks for the airport clarification..........don't tell me why or how you know.......but thanks.

From the golf course to the airport bathroom, I'm always a stickler for etiquette.

Not really, my freshman year they still had very closed and restricted hours for visiting the gals dorms. Back in the day with house moms and doors of the gals rooms had to open if they had guys there in Oak Hall.

My sophomore they moved my dorm house from Wallace to Birch and moved the poor gals in Birch to Wallace. So I was one of the first dudes to live in Richardson Court. Awesome luck of the draw. Oak, Barton, Elm, Linden, Maple-Wllow-Larch were still all gals with us pioneering guys in Birch-Welch. Compared to living with 2400 isolated guys in the old towers it was glorious!

By the time I was a senior it had gone to pretty much full/open 24/7 visitation with booze and a look the other way on marijuana if you were at least a little discreet. But still not truly coed.

the hawk fans in ISR don't bother me. It's the one's who act like they're ISU fans even though they obviously aren't and post stupid troll threads that should be banned on the spot.

What's always great is the angry rebuttal when they get called out. It's like getting panhandled in a store parking lot by the someone with the old "my car is broken down and I need money for a taxi" story. When you ask if this is a scam the true scammers always reacted with practiced angry outrage that you would think such a thing!

All girls dorm, open door policy, guys had to be announced by shouting "man on floor" when you came out of the stairwell so that girls were warned to put on a bathrobe or shut their door, guys could only be upstairs from 8a-10p on Sun thru Thurs, 8a-12p on Fri & Sat, and had to be escorted. They could be un-escorted in the commons until 11p & 1p (school nights & weekend nights). Our dorm had an interior ramp that bypassed the front commons room and went up all four floors. Guys were only allowed on it during moving days (no elevator). Exterior doors were locked at 10p and 12p. To get to the stairwell you had to pass the Head Resident's (our version of a Hall Coordinator) living quarters and office. Mrs. K kept her door open ALL the time. No one got past her (at least that's what we let her think!). She guarded "her girls" like a dragon.
One thing that was nice - my dorm, Coman, was connected with Scott and Regents Hill (also all-girl dorms) via an underground tunnel. The dining hall was in Regents Hill. They staffed the morning shift of the dining hall with all females, so we could got get breakfast still in our curlers and bathrobes, no makeup, etc, then go back to our dorms and get ready for class. My sophomore year they changed Scott Hall over to a men's study dorm (no freshmen or sophomores - upperclass & grad students only). The days of the bathrobe breakfasts were over (different era...now it's NBD).

I always suspected that's what all girl dorms were like when there was no men. Girls hanging around naked or in silky lingerie while having pillow fights and showering together frequently.

Anybody else picture them this way?

Very much so. I was greatly disappointed that showers were not (normally) co-ed like Boy Meets World.

The end zones look good, but now the press box and seat conditions really stand out. I'm not going to sit here and single anyone out for donations to improve the facilities, however the Boxster Press Lounge at Jack Trice Stadium has a nice ring to it.
B-Diddy making it rain on the ISU athletic department.
