RIP Prince

So nobody can name the former Ames band that covered "When Doves Cry?"

I will give you a hint... the band's bassist went on to direct several music videos as well as a somewhat popular paranormal show.

Or they just don't really give a ****.

Been listening to a ton of Prince. My 1.5-year-old loves "Gett Off." (Don't judge, it's not like he understands the lyrics.)

Anyway - if that song had dropped today, it would STILL sound innovative:

The band that covered the song, then was quoted as saying (approx), "We don't like the trend of covers, but we're not selling out. We're just doing what the label asked..." - that band? Nah, I'd rather not name them.

This is one of the best performances in award show history. I think it's just as iconic as Michael Jackson performing Billie Jean at Motown 25.

“Mom, how could anyone possibly execute 23 positions in a one night stand? I’m calling BS on Prince on that one!”

"That little dude would have needed a ladder for that!"

Mostly I think he just likes the piccolo looping over the funky bass. He bobs his head hardcore back and forth and says "yeah, yeah!" It's ridiculous and awesome.

A lot more Prince content coming on line. I was amazed how he was able to control his content.

I was going to post Erotic City, a late night staple at the watering holes I used to frequent as a student, but it's probably a little too much for CF.

They were not on a label. From what I heard, they did a gig at Prince's club and got to meet him and then decided to cover one of his songs since they liked him so much. Not sure if that's true or not, but it would make sense.
