I asked 4 guys to usher my wedding. Three ended up backing out for the following reasons.

1. Got a job offer in Amsterdam
2. National Guard unit was called up to go to Kosovo
3. Asked to be in somebody else's wedding at the exact same time and decided it was best to not be in either.

I guess those are pretty good reasons but I was left scrambling.

I think 1 and 2 are pretty good reasons if that is the best they could do. But if I was asked to be in two different weddings I would be in the one that had asked me first. If someone doesn't understand that the reason you can't be in their wedding is because you already committed to someone else at the same time, they weren't a very good friend to begin with.

How would you handle it if it was a college friend that asked you first, and then your future BIL asks second?

We had a groomsman back out a week and a half before the wedding. (Only found out when we got in touch with him because he hadn't gotten fitted for his tux) So that sent us on a scramble. Promote an usher? We ended up getting in touch with my best friend in college. He got fitted, forked over the money for the tux, and rearranged his internship schedule to be there on Friday instead of Saturday. (God bless him) Husband and I definitely made it a priority to go to his wedding a couple of years later.

My scenario was based on advance knowledge. If Velo's sister plans for her wedding to occur in just a few weeks, well, let her be mad. If there was lots of advance knowledge and the friend had the ability to change his plans, I would probably beg out of the friend's wedding for the family wedding.

Heading into the last week of single parenting. It has gone fast because 1/4 of the kids keeps me running 99% of the time. These three weeks will not be my best meals wise but we have eaten *something* every night. One night was dry cereal in the van and a brownie when we got home at 8:20 right before bedtime . . .

You are Wonder Woman in disguise, right? That's amazing.

My random thought for the day: I'm trying a new fabric softener sheet tonight. The reviews seemed pretty great except the one or two about it staining clothes. I decided to try my luck with the unscented ones.

It is called Seventh Generation.

Wow......it was freezing standing there watching the track meet. Felt bad for my son since his team has had 3 weeks less training than most of the teams there. The local basketball team placed at state so they didn't start until after that. First to take the track on anything and shot out like a missle on the 4x800, and started to hit the wall at 550. Had nothing for last 50-75 meters. Needs to get back into running shape. He lost his legs for everything else then.

Welp, that national championship game was a hell of a game. Even better since the right team one.
