Hey Chris Williams.....previous commits?

I don't see why people are surprised that we'll lose some players and others will have considered it. I mean, CPR and the staff are all they've known for the last several years of their life. It's a big change.

Now I'd be surprised if we'd lose very many in the end, especially after they meet the new staff and have had some time to react. It's only been 3 or 4 days since the new guys showed up.

Wasn't there an article saying Nader considered leaving after Fred left? Different sport, but still a big change and something that requires some thought.

chris, or anybody, have any knowledge of what is happening with the commits to the previous staff?
also.....December juco signing day is coming up. Are any of them coming, or were they cut loose?

From what I understand, Campbell is going to be flying to every commit's home here in the next couple of days to keep them on board. Sounds like a top priority for the head coach.

As far as the transfer stuff goes, I don't think it will be that bad. Rumors like this always pop up after coaching changes and in football, not much usually happens. We'll see.

I have a friend that tutors Kamari and he sure makes it sound like he wants to leave

Someone give me one good reason Cotton Moya would transfer. He's a starter on a Big 12 team, and he's used up his redshirt. If he transfers he would only have 1 year of college football left to play.

Wanting to compete for a championship?

Why not? It was a 3-9 team. What's the worst that happens - we go 3-9 again as Coach Campbell installs his system?
Oddly enough, I don't want to go 3-9 again. I think that the talent is there to do much better--assuming the OL caan be patched up and improved. That is why players staying matters to me.

We play them, block the transfer.

He'd be in San Jose redshirting again next season. If he wants to transfer to Cal he better be doing it for academics only since Sonny ***** won't be his coach by the time he plays again (He wants out - has been putting his name up for current power 5 job openings)

Looking at our results in games he played vs games he didn't, I don't see much difference. Certainly not saying he isn't good but if the only reason he'd stay is because leaving means he sits out a year, I'd prefer he leaves. A new coach doesn't need a guy who's here, choosing the lesser of two evils. I don't see his talent being worth all the gas blown about him. If he stays and buys in, great, if he'd rather be elsewhere, great. We seem to consistently find safeties.

Problem is, we also lose Floyd.

Closer to home.

Athletes transfer for non-good reasons far too often.

I don't doubt that but it will be a tough sell for some guys.

No doubt a few guys will reconsider but I have no worries regardless of the player because the growth and success of this program lays in the hands of CMC and the players that stay and they recruit, not the players the leave.

One thing about an exodus. Once a couple leave, many more follow. The key is to keep an exodus in check. When people look around and see friends leaving, it makes it easier to leave Dodge.

That was Jews and around 2,000 years ago....

Pretty dumb statement, considering he was defensive freshman of the year in 2014 and was well on his way to being all Big 12 in 2015 before he got hurt.

But ahhhhhh he's not that good. I have really noticed the stupidity level ratched up this week.

Program succeeds or fails going forward with the coaching staff in place and they players that take the field. Won't wring my hands over a few players here or there as the future is bright regardless.

Cotton-Moya is really good. Darian Cotton struggled in pass coverage at the safety position.

I want Cotton-Moya to stay. I believe that the leadership on the team will demand that total effort be a requirement to all players on our team. It is his choice to do what he wishes.

Iowa State Fpptball success does not rest on whether Cotton-Moya stays or goes. I expect Matt Campbell to deal with whatever happens.

From other threads, I see a lot of offers for 2016 being made by the new staff. If they honor the accepted offers from CPR staff, then we do not have that many scholarships to give. I think they must be planning on a certain number leaving, I just hope they are not starters.

I expect that the commits they want to keep will get visits and contacts. It is possible that some of the commits may be offered the scholarship as a Grayshirt.......and then they can decide. Some might be told it is in their best interests to part ways. And it is possible that some player attrition takes place. Matt Campbell's job is to make sure that he is prepared for all scenarios. It looks like he will be.
