Blowout loss to Baylor, Rhoads fired?

Did you follow ISU during their 0-10-1 season?

I've been to every home game from 1995-2014. I don't remember ever not winning at least one game.

Just looked it up, that was 1994 the year before Mac came on board. I wasn't an ISU fan at that point. That did look pretty bad but I'd be happy to lose to the #1 team in the nation by 14.....

Rhoads isn't going to be fired mid-season. It's just not going to happen anymore unless something else bad happens (besides just looking lost and losing big every game).

JP will wait until the end of the season, and donors will pony up for the buyout. 2-3 wins per season for 3 seasons in a row will be enough even for the most buddy-buddy group of donors to realize that Rhoads has to go.

No, it is pointless to make a change after getting blown out by the number 2 and 3 teams in the country. IT looks horrible and Pollard would be dragged over the coals by the outside media. The narrative will be "You fired the guy for losing to the number 2 and 3 teams in the country? Who wants to work for that AD?" WE all know that isn't the case but that would be the narrative and would hinder our new coach search. The TCU score, if you didn't watch the game was as expected, maybe even better. Plus, there really is no reason to fire him mid season, it gains you nothing really. A new coach will be hired after the season, this year is a loss, nothing can change that now. People just need to forget about it and move on to basketball.

I predict 30k season tickets sold then. Tons of APPLEBEES MINI PACKS. He is incapable of turning this program around in a tough league. Think Kentucky football. Think Vanderbilt football. Think Indiana football. Playing everyone in the conference is not helping our winning at this point.

He shouldnt of been the head coach this year after getting blown out horribly all last year. He wont get fired. He can lose 80-0 and he will retain his job. Its ridiculous and Pollard is a pansy.

A little over the top, don't you think? Why not see what JP does at the end of the season before casting aspersions. Up to this point, Rhoads had two bad seasons and a whole lot of average. Any ISU AD shouldn't run a football coach for two seasons. If he brings Rhoads back after this year, you can say what you want.

I used to think firing him mid season would be incredibly dumb but if we aren't competitive with Texas (I think we will be), I'm not standing on a soap box for him. I still think this team could find 3 more wins. Now, that's not good enough to retain him but it's not bad enough to warrant a mid season firing either.

You act like this is completely Pollard's decision. Its not. Leath and Donors will force JP to get rid of CPR.

There were quite a few people willing to give him another year with what we brought back last year, esp. on D. However, there is no excuse for this year. Support is gone, and a change will be forced.

Just got an email response from Leath: says he too is frustrated but that he supports JP and ... blah, blah, blah ...

I get what you are saying, but I think "patience" isn't quite the right word. Although I'm drawing a blank on the right word. I think it's something closer to "respect".

I don't think it's quite there yet. The end of Walden ~ SMU death penalty - we went 22 years between bowl games, SMU 25.

I do think it was telling that the NCAA didn't want to give Penn State the death penalty... because they didn't want them to suffer like Iowa State fans have.

You are joshing. Maybe WVU on the road. Maybe KState on the road. The other losses are signed, sealed, delivered losses with a 12 yard cushion, non rushing qb, and a 1980s mentality for the Big Eight.

That was my final year at ISU, the current situation is just as bad in my mind. I went to games that year knowing we weren't going to win, I watch games this year knowing we aren't going to win. I left after halftime back then to go do something more enjoyable, I turn off the game nowadays to do something more enjoyable. If beating Northern Iowa and Kansas gives anybody any sense of solice, then I guess I'll give you that. The program is in shambles and the AD is watching the ship sink.

And what exactly are these donors so supportive of? The mountain of losses? The poor recruiting? The horrible player development? The inability to make a single relevant change in the course of a game? I guess I just don't get what anyone sees in this guy as a football coach.

If we do get blown up--- 70-10, 70-21, something along those lines, would Rhoads get the can or is he basically in there for the long haul of the season?

There's no question that this has been an incredibly disappointing last couple of years and that Paul's job security is in major jeopardy. But seriously, do you really think that getting blown out ON THE ROAD by the NUMBER TWO TEAM IN THE NATION is fair justification for being fired on the spot? If so, then coaches all over the country should be losing their jobs in mid-season.

I get that fans are impatient and ready for a new coach, but please try to view the situation with some common sense.
