Tip-Off Party - October 1st

We have 4 tickets to be given away for Saturday's ISU v Kansas game. Tickets are in the new SEZ.

Also have a basketball signed by the entire 2015-2016 ISU MBB Team.

If you guys have Hines and Pollard both show up, I'll drive 4 hours to this. Need to set it up right now though.

Is there going to be a NFM coupon done tonight? Or is that going to be skipped this week? Either way, see you at Thunderhead.

Is Deep Throat a special guest?

I am sad, have now even lost some basketball enthusiasm. Cynicism spiral.

Got there at 535 and the place was packed, not one table or area in the bar to sit, so we bugged out.
Good turnout for you guys! I would have stayed and stood but the stage was by the entry and completely on the other side from the bar where there was standing room.

Glad you guys do these events, hope everyone had fun.

Just got home from the tip off party! Couple things about tonight.

*First off, thanks to CW and Cyclonefanatic for always putting this on as its a fun time.

My complaints about tonight was that Thunderhead was not big enough as far as seating arrangement to listen to Coach Prohm speech and mingle with them afterwards. Keg Stand fit this type of outing much better. This always was a must go to event for me and my buddies where we usually would have a tab around $150 or so with $2 beers not the $3 beers we were charged tonight tab was $60. We got there around 4:30 yet was seated to the side where normally this usually would get us a prime seat or up front close to the stage (tonight had people standing in front of us blocking our view). Thunderhead reminds me of Fanfest! A bunch of kids with there parents and there were also a bunch on Non ISU fans there as well (the guy that won the endzone seats I swear he had a Hawk sweater inside out). Actually CW didn't even have a seat when he got there with his family I believe the owner paid for a group that was eating to finish there food and leave so he could have there spot.

There was no DJ setup and when the coaches came in it wasn't the fight song like were accustom to. Definitely a different feel. I am not bashing on Thunderhead or Cyclonefanatic as there food was excellent. But this definitely isn't a place for a tipoff party as everyone has been use to the space and comradery (spelling) that the Kegstand had to offer. I will not probably go back to one of these if it is still here as this was one of the fun nights I got to have to sit around and BS with my friends about the upcoming season without having to watch my mouth because I have kids around me.
Not trying to rant was just trying to let others know how it was tonight that couldn't make it as I know this is always a prime time event. Definitely not seeing Hoiberg shooting baskets and slamming beers and hanging out with other enthusiast. Maybe I just need to change my outlook on this from what it use to be.

Not a fan of thunderhead, main reason I didn't go. Does the food n beer selection still suck? The wings are great, but everything else is ehhhh. Very underwhelming. Especially the beer they try to brew. I do better in my garage.

Needs to move back to keg stand. Just a better setup. Not loyal to either bar. Was still fun tonight!

I wasn't able to attend tonight, can anyone say what prohm said?

It was a lot of rah, rah stuff. I don't think I heard anything we didn't already know. George, Naz, Monte, and Jameel are great. George is an awesome representative of the university.

I would have liked to hear more about the new players like Burton, Ernst, and Carter.

I have agree with this. Having an event like this in what is essentially a restaurant doesn't work. Need to be at bar where people can gather around the stage. Keg stand worked great for this.

Still was fun.

Hoping to hear a little more of the specifics of what Prohm said. And more importantly what he was actually like. These events are so great at letting the fan base get close to the coaches.

We went but didn't get there until about 5:45, and at that point there were tables of empty seats being held by one person. My wife can't stand for long periods so we left. That's not a complaint. That's an us issue not a CF or Thunderhead issue. We should have gotten there earlier. I do hope that all those held seats ended up with butts in them (which it sounds like they did). It's great to see as it demonstrates the excitement around basketball despite the nearly double digit unnamed sources (who are not always wrong) said moral was down in the fan base after CFH's departure. Good to see they were wrong.

That was the problem with the place. Coaches just sat at a table after they were done being on stage. Not an issue with them but that space just isn't setup like kegstand and conducive to it. Not many people but CF people really went up to talk after they were sitting down. Place cleared out early after they were done on stage.

Looks a bigger venue is needed next time. Hilton?

Have to admit I was surprised when I saw it was at Thunderhead. That place is not set up well at all for that kind of event. Not surprised to hear this feedback.
