How do our facilities compare to others?

Missouri is still catching up to isu on the indoor facility. Talking about building a new one.

As I said before, many of you just don't get that isu has had one of the best indoor facilities in the nation for the last 10 years etc.

In some ways schools are trying to catch up to isu.

Obviously isu is catching up when it comes to the stadium improvements.
It's an indoor practice field...They're all pretty much the same. What counts is that you have one. What matters most to performance and recruiting (in regards to facilities) is football performance facilities. ISU caught up to the middle of the pack in this regard.

Article from 2013 ranking the top indoor facilities. Most of these facilities have full 100-yard fields and higher ceilings, in addition to other bells and whistles.

Assume that was before major renovations in 1999, 2004 and 2010, which combined cost over $300 million, added 93 luxury boxes, 12,000 seats and the largest video screen in college football. It is old, sure, but light years ahead of almost any college football stadium in terms of capacity and amenities. And I'm not really ripping so much as adding to the "arms race" discussion.

If you're talking about about the videoboard they put up in '04 it is no longer in the top 20 in college football.

Looks like "Saturday Down South" did a ton of research on those rankings. As in, lets just go down the SEC list and throw in a few other traditional powers for good measure. What criteria were used for those rankings?

Oh wait, who ******* cares (besides you)?

I get the impression that I really frustrate you. Please find comfort in the fact that all I want is the very best for our alma mater, Iowa State University.

I see people poo-poohing size when it comes to facilities. Size is a pretty important factor since we are talking about the ability to train some 125 young men.

That's how you know many of these articles are worthless. They include a below average facility by a name school.

And to the other poster all indoor practice fields are not the same.

Try practicing on a smaller field with a low ceiling. Yeah. Not the same.

I actually read that article before I posted and thought half of them belonged. If you look at the square feet ISU still has a bigger facility than most. Imagine that.

Again, it's a field with a shelter around it. Yes, some have more banners and decorative aspects to them but, in the end, having one is the key.

Actually that's not the key. The key, as I stated is having one big enough with a tall enough ceiling to do almost everything you would normally do at practice. That's the key.

Practicing inside when there is not enough room is not an enjoyable experience. In other words having one is a step in the right direction.

I don't care one bit about the banners etc. It has to be functional and big enough. That's the key.

You suck and you're worthless. You contribute nothing to anything. But please find comfort that I want the very best for you. :spinny:

The Cyclones have definitely made huge improvements. No doubt about that. It's tough though. It's not like the other schools are slowing down. Here's the video of Iowa's new football building for comparison to Bergstrom facilities:

I was shocked how "meh" facilities were at Auburn. Wish ISU had that recruiting footprint though.

Ive seen the Arkansas facilities too and other than stadiums theres several other schools ive seen that are nothing eye opening or head and shoulders above ours. I went to the game in Austin last year and that's a different story though.
