Seconded on everything here.My wife hated the noise level of our old dishwasher, and when she replaced it, she went 100% by sound reduction. We ended up with a Bosch that cost around $900 (I think it was almost as much as the fridge we bought), but we went from turning movies way up while it was running (or running it when no one was around) to having people open it while it's running all the time, because it is so damn quiet.
We love our Bosch, too. We have had it for 6 years and it is so quiet that there have been several times that I've opened it to put something in and not realized that it was already running.
I would go with something that has a stainless steel interior and racks that have a very good coating. I have seen people get new dishwashers and the rubber on the racks is bad and they quickly rust out and replacing the racks is a couple hundred bucks easy. I like our model that has the buttons on the top of the door so they are concealed when the door is closed.
We got our Bosch dishwasher from Lowes and they delivered and installed it. Dishwashers are pretty easy to install so I wouldn't worry about someone screwing that up (not saying it couldn't be done though).
