I tried so much to like that series :( He's really good at description and setting things up, but if I remember right the bad guys were called something like Children of the Light? At the time I was reading it I was also in children's choir and we had a song about being children of light. I couldn't take it seriously anymore and laughed every time I read the phrase.

Yeah that's just one group of antagonists in the book. The books are really in depth so they aren't for everyone, but for me they were all worth it.

As far as his favorite books right now, do you want to read about abolition or Slave life?

As for fiction he really enjoyed an alternate reality series by Harry Turttledove.

I had to look at my master list of our books for his name!! You would think I would have finished cataloging them by now, but I have the upstairs left. :(

Speaking of favorite books, does anyone else find themselves skimming to their favorite parts?

I now have my most favorite tribology on Kindle and I am making myself only read it when I go do the elliptical. (Trying to get more cardio on Tuesday/Thursday)

If anyone is looking for a book with a sci fi leaning, try The Martian by Andy Weir. It's about the first guy to get left behind on Mars. Really good and it's a quick and easy read. Pretty humorous to as it's written from the main characters perspective.

If you don't want to read, the movie adaptation is supposed to come out this fall as well.

So more onna not cooking. Everything inna fridge has "light" or "lite" on it. I want to gouge my eyeballs out. I'm having pork fat withdrawls.

I feel bad for you, yet I still want to mention that I have a tiny bit of pork roast left over in my frig.......

I'm only going by the map I was given last time I went, in February. I don't know what else to tell ya, Velo!

You don't have to tell me anything; I'm not trying to convince you. I'm just letting the guy who will be honeymooning there know that he shouldn't take no for an answer if he wants to go to Hana and one rental place is telling him it is verboten; either push the issue or go to another rental car company.

You mean I'm not the only one who keeps titles & authors on file? My kids think I'm nuts!

It is good. I got it back when he self-published via Amazon. Gained enough traction to get a publisher.

I'm guilty of doing this at the library to see if I want to read it again. Then I read all the good parts and don't want to take it home anymore.

I joined GoodReads to sorta keep track of what I've read. But I'm not great at keeping track of authors/books.

I buy paperbacks, but I rarely get rid of them. Over 40+ years, I've amassed around 1500. I can't put them all on shelves (no space) so I have them in boxes. I tend to like books with continuing characters, so it helps me keep track of the order of the books. It also tells me if I see a blurb on Amazon whether or not I have that book, or have read other books by the author (and liked them).

Yeah...maybe a little overkill...but just a little!

The reaction posts and gifs in the "Mother hosts ''Naked Twister'' party" have me rolling on the floor laughing, literally.

oh I doubt I have a dozen books of my own in the apt right now. DH has a few but I tend to just read and return.

So Pantsy and one of his employees goes to Kauai this morning. Pantsy puts the plane tickets on his corporate credit card. Pantsy's employee gets TSA pre-check, Pantsy doesn't. Pantsy also gets selected for a random search. I can see that this is how this is going to go.....
I have been "randomly selected" every time I have gone through security for a flight.

Every time.

I do the same thing. Wait till they come out in the cheap paperback. And have about the same amount as you. At our last house I had them on rows of shelves, sorted by author and date written (gotta start taking pills for this OCD). Now my wife won't let me put them up in our new abode, so they're in boxes in the basement. I could have a heck of a garage sale, but don't want to give up my security blanket.:err:
