ISU 12th in new AP

You're right. Don't even take into account the level at which you play. D1, D2, NAIA, whatever. Throw them all in.

One person answer me this question. On March 15th, what seed do you expect ISU to have? I'm looking for a 1 word (or number) answer. Just tell me the number and I'll explain once we get that far.

damn you're dense.

It's been stated that ISU is almost a lock for a #3 seed at this point about 1000 times in the last two days.

You're right, I had it flipped. I do still think it's a great tool (and they'd never use the full ranking w/ margin)...obviously I pointed out an issue myself though.

The computer polls that take margin of victory create more problems then they solve in selection, ditto for football.

In terms of what the NCAA committee says they value year after year, WSU is nowhere near #11 in their view. ISU would definitely be #12 or higher in the committee's view as of now though.

So D1 vs D2 matters. But B12 vs MVC doesn't. Does B12 vs. SWAC matter?

And a 2 loss team with a SOS of 178 isn't a joke being in the top ten? You highlight road wins, except you road wins are against podunk teams like Bradley, aka glorified DIII schools. Congrats on winning in the afterthought conference that is the MVC. Keep telling yourself that UNI is more deserving of a top ten rating. I'll keep laughing.

I'll never defend Tech. They stink, but I don't see where the bottom-feeder dictates conference strength. Most of the time, you look towards the top of the league, and then note how strong the middle is, and then maybe bother with the bottom feeders.

So for the Big XII you have Kansas, Iowa State, and Oklahoma at the top. In the middle you have West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Baylor, and Texas. At the bottom you have K-State, Texas Tech, and TCU.

I would take any of those middle teams (WVU, Okie State, Baylor, or Texas) and I would pick them to win the Missouri Valley this year.

I'll use the UNI fans tactics to make my case. UNI beat Virginia Tech 73-54 and George Mason 71-65 in OT. West Virginia beat Virginia Tech 82-51 and George Mason 91-65. Clearly West Virginia is better then UNI and would easily win the Missouri Valley title.

Also of note... Iowa State swept West Virginia this season which clearly shows that Iowa State would destroy UNI regardless of where the game was played.

Most people here are predicting a 3-4 seed. Let's just say we expect a 3. OK. There's your number. Please explain what you've got now that we've come this far. I'm curious to see where you're going here.

I think it's something like AP/Coaches rankings should just be best record without looking at schedule. But seeding should be non-stupid and reflect what teams have quality wins and such. It's riveting stuff.
 
I am still waiting to hear the logic on why Iowa State would miraculously jump UNI if ku lost.

He can't go full irrational and say the MVC champ and runnerup should be ranked higher than the champ of the #1 RPI conference...but it's fine to think the Big 12 runner up would be drubbed in the MVC.

A bit over the max of 1 word, but I'll take it.

So with ISU being a 3 seed, that would "rank" them anywhere between 9 and 12 correct?

Lets say UNI ends up with a 4. They end up between 13 and 16 right?

Wichita ends up...

You see where I'm going by this point. What purpose did their regular season ranking serve?

No purpose. Rankings mean squat come March 15th.

Yeah, that's what this entire thread is about.

It's stupid and meaningless that a team with no quality wins is ranked #11...but you have this idea that there's some value to a ranking comprised entirely of who has the best record and no regard to schedule.

You keep trying to steer the discussion towards seeding in a ranking thread. If you were a voter how would you rank Iowa State and UNI? How would you seed them? Why would you not rank them based on how you would seed them?

I've been saying rankings have no value, they are merely a number. Seeding is what really matters. There's no way UNI will be seeded higher than ISU.

So you think as a collective, if seeding were up to them, the AP would seed UNI and WSU higher than ISU?

If YOU were to seed the teams right now, where would you seed ISU? UNI?
