What did you do with your first paycheck?

I think I bought meat. Seriously. I can recall thinking "Geez, maybe now I can afford meat".

Only took 5 posts for "hookers and blow"...well done.

i don't remember mine, but it was long enough ago that there was no such thing as direct deposit yet.

Probably paid rent and bought food. Barely. (first job out of college, after finishing an "unpaid" internship)

3 years later, working full-time seasonally in the resort industry. Probably won't be until after grad school that I'll find myself in a salaried position.

Bills and living. I can't wait to get myself a car I can be proud of and take people in...maybe next year. That is unless I convince myself to pay off more debt instead.

What I've learned is some of you got very good paying jobs immediately out of school or some of you had just had a lot to learn about budgeting money.

My first paycheck out of being an undergrad was a grad student stipend. It wasn't enough to do anything besides pay rent and help cover moving expenses.

My first paycheck out of grad school went towards moving expenses for moving from Raleigh, NC to Seattle, WA, plus rent (which is over twice what I paid in Raleigh!).

Also, I'm married so doing fun stuff with money is pretty much impossible.

I was a paperboy in Des Moines during they early 1970's. I started a "Floppy savings account" at the bank.
