How I Met Your Mother

This show has some of the funniest moments I've seen in a TV show. But I'm ready for it to end; they've drug this season on entirely too long

My wife loves the show, but I never found it funny. She told me to give it a few episodes and it confirmed it for me. It's as if they took the plot of "Friends" and just amped up the interpersonal "humor" by having everyone ultimately date everyone else. Always seemed like it was done before.

Definitely a chick show.

Then you, sir, have never seen the episode "Glitter". Among the funniest 10 minutes of television ever, right up with Betty White's Muffin bit as Florence Dusty on SNL.

Agreed. Great episode. And right at the end, when she was playing the ukulele, I think some dust flew in my eye, causing it to water a little bit.

That point where she was talking to Max was up there for that too.

She may have said no to Louis, that moment talking to him was the exact point where she was finally ready for someone like Ted. She literally could not be meeting him any sooner.

One of the best non funny episodes I've seen from this show. My favorite non funny one is the still the one where Lily told Marshall that his dad died (not because of the fact but because the acting was spectacular and it felt real)

Agreed. I tear up every time I watch Marshall get ****** at the pocket dial. That was gut-wrenching.

That as well as the other episode in that arc where he hears that last message from his dad, both very solid episodes. The thing about that scene where he finds out his dad is dead thats incredible is that Jason Segel didnt know that's what the news was going to be. He just knew when he was supposed to start talking. The 'im not ready for this' was ad-libbed

Really when this show wants to go that direction its been very good.

Best 2 consecutive episodes in the series.

I also didn't realize how there is a count down starting at 50 the whole episode. That was kind of different in a good way.

Yeah, i caught that on the first watch.. i actually kind of figured out what it was counting down to (they were making a big point of his dad in that episode, somewhat saying goodbye to him) but that scene was perfect.

Really enjoyed tonight's episode. And I agree the last two have been very good, hope it continues this way thru the finale.

I can't beleive that nobody has mentioned one of the best parts of the episode... The return of "The Naked Man"! Really though, I thought it was great and made me remember all those times Ted said "Your mother was there" or "Your mother was in that class" with no payoff.

I really wish they would have led this season with last night's episode. And then continued more about mother and the places she's been with the group. Or worked in more "cameos" from past episodes. While last night's episode was really good, it felt like it could have been 3 or 4 episodes. And I would much rather trade several pre-wedding episodes for more mother episodes.

I think it worked better to have all the episodes where she met everyone but Ted (except Robin? can't recall) before this one. If they had led off with this it would have felt like shoving her down everyone's throat and wouldn't have played as well. It worked because they did a really good job integrating her slowly this season before putting her in the spotlight.

I will agree, there's been some clunky filler episodes, but it's 20+ episode season. That's the nature of the beast.
