They are opening one relatively close to my house. Should I assume it sucks?

It is a slightly better Ci-Ci's pizza if you've ever been to one of those. But with less selection because they got fried chicken.

Pizza Ranch is ok for what it is, and the fried chicken is good (maybe a bit salty).

To give you some context compared against national chains (in my opinion):

Papa John's
Pizza Ranch
Domino's
Pizza Hut

I prefer Pizza Ranch to CiCi's. Been to a lot of them, as it seems like my kids' sports teams always stop at one because they are starving after a game and you can get a lot of food fairly inexpensively and quickly.

It is not fine dining, but the food is consumable. They always seem to ask if there is a certain kind of pizza you want on the buffet. Different ones have different things, sometimes there will be mac and cheese as well as mashed potatoes with the chicken, so they hit the foods that kids like. They usually have a decent salad bar. My kids always like the cactus bread but they have dessert pizza and soft serve ice cream too.
