2 weeks ago I promised my wife I would make reservations for a good restaurant on NYE. Needless to say I f'd up and forgot. None of the good restaurants in the Des Moines metro like centro and splash have anything left. Does anyone have any suggestions that can prevent me from sleeping on the couch to start 2013?

TIA

Does she like fish? Japanese Steak houses? I know I'll get some flak, but there are also chain restaurants that are fanceyish..

Tell her she is so special that you instead will take her out this weekend for a two nighter in a local hotel. You could also buy airline tickets to San Diego.

Could check Greenbriar in Johnston? One of my go-to ones for fancier stuff.

Baratta's sometimes gets forgotten about being out of the way, so you can slip in a reservation late on occasion. Maybe not the top of the top fancy, but good food.

Don't know if those meet the food snob standards on here, but they work for me.

Keep the ideas coming... so far the cheesecake factory is winning because no matter what the wait is we can still kill time in the mall. Her shopping with my credit card may be enough to save my a--.

Worst idea so far is the trip to san diego... cuz if I had that kind of money I would be on Beale St. right now.

Fizty, I love that idea!!! Hu Hot is good, you choose your own food, and you can 'pig out' without worrying about weight because it is mostly healthy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
