Baylor played a nearly perfect game at home, just forget this one and be ready to blowout OU at home. Oh and acy is a huge ******.

Most are being very level headed and matter of fact about this loss. Where are all those that were convinced we were gonna win?

I dont think its critical but after dropping 2 of 3 (yes the 2 were on the road) we need to win a few quick.

we do shoot a pretty high percentage of shots 0 feet from the basket.

We are verticaly challenged - BU has too much height we have to double team and leaves people open. When ISU gets a little more size there will be more single coverage and less dunks by the opposition.

The lone Baylor fan nailed it. Getting beat on the boards by ISU is a bad sign. Look for Baylor to make a quick exit in the NCAA Tournament.

Really?!?! Had to say that? Serious arrogance in that statement.

not meant to be arrogant at all. when you've got 2-3 inches on everyone in the front court, I don't expect my team to give up 12 offensive rebounds.

hell, I don't care about height, I don't want my team to give up 12 offensive rebounds period.

edit: I can say "hell" but not "p!ssed"? What kind of midwest shenanigans is that?

That might be a good formula for winning at home, but it isn't a good formula for winning on the road.

When MU beat BU in Waco, MU only hit 7/21 3-pt shots. However, MU had 31 FT attemtps, to BU's 11. That game was won at the FT line.

Counting on hitting 3-pt shots in a good team's gym is not a good plan for success. You need easy points. ISU only shot 8 FTs tonight. Gotta get to the FT line on the road. ISU isn't wired that way...yet.

Missouri Tigers vs. Baylor Bears - Box Score - January 21, 2012 - ESPN

So why talk about a way that ISU is not wired like it is an option? Getting to the free throw line won't help ISU a lot when they hit less than 70 per cent of their free throws.

My point is, ISU is a perimeter scoring team. If that is not there, and the interior defense is not there, ISU is not likely to win many games.

Tonight the outside shooting was not there, especially from Allen and McGee. None of the guards shot well.

The interior defense was really weak. Baylor shot 72 per cent in the 2nd half, and 60 per cent for the game, mostly because their shots were right under the bucket.

For ISU to win this game.......they had to use the same formula they used against Oklahoma.......play decent defense and hit the outside shots. They will have to use that to beat Baylor in Ames too because it is the only option that they really have, unless the front-line guys are going to suddenly grow a few inches or learn to play shut-down defense.

It's a function of the zone... always going to give a few more offensive boards relative to playing man to man. And rebounding isn't just about height - a couple of weeks ago we out rebounded Kansas by like 15.

Yup.

Our defense hurt us the most, Baylor is a long lean athletic team that is quicker than we are and it showed tonight. Wish we would have attacked the rim and taken to Acy more. Allen was off, but so was about everyone else. Gibson gave us good minutes and that is a good sign for the rest of this season and next season.

Because ISU has to make it an option. ISU can do better than getting to the FT line only 8 times. They've done much better than that many times this season.

Getting to the free throw line won't help ISU a lot when they hit less than 70 per cent of their free throws.

Getting to the FT line gets the other team's good players out of the game. ISU has already done this in a couple of conference wins this year.

For ISU to win this game.......they had to use the same formula they used against Oklahoma.......play decent defense and hit the outside shots.

That "OU" formula also included 12/15 from the FT line...

I'm really not that disappointed...Yes I expected us to play better but we are still sitting pretty well. I really think we will beat them in Hilton.

To elaborate on my initial comment on how our RPI actually increased with the loss (due to large SOS increase) then you will like this even better. With the Kansas win tonight our RPI increased 0.002 points and we are now #38. That's right, we gained a spot in the RPI tonight even with the loss.

And take note, I realize this is not that big of a deal and we will likely drop tomorrow depending upon how teams win/lose. But, losing on the road to a Top 10 team is not that disheartening, especially when they could not miss a shot. Better defensive performance and the game in Hilton and it will be much closer with a legitimate shot at the upset. For all intensive purposes I hope Baylor keeps winning, it's a long shot for us to keep pace with them given our schedule so might as well hope they are still top 10 when they come into Ames.

We won rebounding tonight 26-25.
