My conference tidbit

I have no worries and I am a rabid worrier. As JP said.... read websites and the media speculation for fun and amusement only. Not facts.

Good. And don't worry about what the vocal minority on here has said to you either. IF nothing else, I appreciated a little info that wasn't the doom of ISU athletics. There are people on here that are definitely a glass half empty crowd. Don't let them get to you.

The funny thing is, I would put your source as more credible than half the reports on this that people are treating like God's truth. Your problem was naming your source. Had you said, "I heard from my cousin's favorite radio show host's dentist, who knows a guy who lives on Lincoln way who has a friend in the Football office that said..."

I for one want to thank you for your information.

At the same time, JP hates message boards (which he is really targeting with these kinds of statements) with a passion. They, along with twitter, have made it harder for him to control the message. It blinds him sometimes to a lot of the real good that comes out of message boards like this in terms of keeping the fanbase active and engaged.

Couldn't agree more. He does hate this stuff. I've heard him speak in person a few times and he just rails on it, almost too much. These days you can never fully control the message but JP runs as tight a ship as there is.

Must not weigh academics TOO heavy, I love ISU but don't really consider it equal to Northwestern there.

Wow, these rankings mean Case Western Reserve University (#7) might be an expansion candidate because of their rankings.

The US News rankings, good or bad, are what most people use as a benchmark.

Dr Gene Lloyd (the lloyd who's name is on the side of the VET MED addition) just told me that He, JP, GG, Harkin, Grassley and 3 or 4 US House members were all in a suite up in the pressbox Saturday and they met again yesterday. I ask Dr. L if the Big XII would survive and all he would say was "change is good" and "we will be more than just alright." He's 87 and sharp as a tack and is NUTS about ISU. Quietly given millions upon millions. While telling me this, his smile was one of great satisfaction. You can take this or leave it but it made me feel a whole lot better.

He also said that looking at the new scoreboard is difficult from up in the upper pressbox, have to bend over to see it.

Dr. Lloyd, Senator Grassley and his family were indeed in attendance Saturday evening at the UNI game, but they were in my box the entire game with the Geoffroys. Senator Harkin and the rumored house members were nowhere to be seen all evening. Grassley also wasn't one for talking politics and conference realignments, he was merely there to cheer for his Panthers. Dr. Lloyd was spot on about the scoreboard though. You can't see it from the box suites unless you are in the front rows of seats or so. However, that isn't a fault of the scoreboard, merely the nature of the stadium and box layout.

you must be in on the "know".

please start spilling the beans right now regarding realignment.

I don't think ISU has any shot at the Big10, but I just thought of something really cool.

That would free up a Non Conference Game for us because Iowa would be a regular season game. that would be sweet.

I really think the Big12 stays together, but changes for the better.

All I can do is stand by what I was told and who told it to me ...........obviously there are some place of discussion and timeline issues but I trust in what Dr L told me.

I hope so. Just wish this Big 12 thing would blow up now.

I just heard from my friend's dogwalker that the dogwalker saw President Obama discussing with Giggles and Marty's dentists's receptionist how this would all go down. So I guess what's going to happen is Iowa State is going independent and staring their own network within 2 years. After 4 years, Iowa State will actually be an NFL team.

Good grief. No offense rebecacy, but everyone knows someone who knows exactly what is going to happen. Problem is, all those known facts are different. I for one will wait until the dominoes fall, or don't fall, until I believe anything.

I have no evidence to refute rebecacy's post, so I can't join the doubters. On the other hand, as an ISU alum and sports fan, I do have a built-in desire to accept it at face value.

It seems to fly in the face of most doomsday scenarios, many which have a basis in logic but involved a whole lot of conjecture and also are dependent on domino-effect of realignment.

I'm comforted by "more than fine" and "change is good." But is that partly because I want to be comforted?

I still think reality will fall somewhere between not-as-bad-as-feared and not-quite-what-we-wish.

I just asked Linda who's box they were in, either your GG or a liar. Well I guess the possibility exists that GG told her it was his box when it was not.

There could have been a miscommunication or misunderstanding in relaying information between the parties. Happens all of the time. Most important is the fact that they were there in someone's skybox. Doesn't matter who's.

I agree but I did not like my credibility being questioned and it was put in question.

They were ALL in Linda's box?
