Not trying to say anything bad about the OP but is it confirmed anywhere that both harkin and grassley were at our game saturday? With all that is going on seems like that would get some press.
Who in the press would care?

Of all the possible changes that could be made, what could be "good" for ISU? Going to the Big East is not a better option and going to the Big Ten is not going to happen. Only change that could be considered good out of this scenario is the Big 12 staying together while adding more teams and ISU continuing to take a share of that pie.
My bold prediction...Missouri, KSU, KU, and ISU join the Big 10 to form the first 16 team football conference, Texas goes independent, and the remainder of the Big 12 south schools either join the SEC or Pac 12.
K-State doesn't have the academics to get into the Big Ten.
Neither does Nebraska.
As for the Big 12, I can't see it being stable in the long run, even if it did expand to 14 or 16.
Not trying to be alarmist, but if true this was probably not meant to be discussed on a message board? Do we want to risk a missouri mistake like last year and screw something up?

This is the best news regarding this. I agree with the posters here given the senators involvement and the OP's comments I can think of only 2 solutions: the B12 expands and becomes stable or it completely collapses and we end up being picked up by the B10. Either one would be good.
Here's a third option: ISU has threatened legal action against, UT, OU, OSU, A&M, Neb, CU and TT. All of these schools have agreed to pay ISU $3M/year each (inflation adjusted) for the next 20 years to avoid legal action against them for the $1B they left on the table from the Fox Deal. Then ISU ends up in a Big East conference that will be much easier to win, with an extra $21M per year.
I hope something does transpire soon. I actually had difficulty enjoying tailgating last Sat wondering about all of the negative possibilities.
