If he needs to affirm that he's supporting Mac, it means that there was any doubt in the first place about it.
he was already getting another year. this game didn't change anything.
Yes, there was doubt. Maybe not by Pollard, but by fans, donors, message-board users, radio talk-show hosts.. I have a hard time believing, if this press conference says what we think it will, that there was never doubt by Pollard.
Last year, mid-season he publicly backed McDermott.

Radio talk-show hosts are morons. It really shouldn't matter what they think.
Correct, but we finished the season tied for 9th place. Look, I'm not saying I'm proud of our 9th place finish. I'm just saying to all of the people piling on McDermott that they should at least be fair when they rag on him. However, some people are so overly zeolous in their desire to get rid of McDermott that they don't let the facts get in their way.
That's the smart marketing move - if you're the president of a company, why would you come out and say, "Oh, no, we're not going bankrupt" while there's still a question? That shows weakness, and gets people to shy away from your product. Not smart marketing.
I agree. That doesn't change my point.
with MCD back next year we will go to the tourney
yep. like a larry E addidas turtleneck. only then will I think mcD is both serious about winning and capable of winning.
not sure I disagree with this in principle , but I happen to work for one of those many struggling companies out there - and we were forced by the situation to say something as rampant rumors were hurting us with our customers and employees even though the rumors weren't true, in this case - Pollard said something mid last year because of the same reason and wanted to keep his customers - the donors on board, this year he couldn't say much because he had already played the card and the results didn't really improve. If he intends to say something, the win does help set the stage for that presser
I think you missed my point. Obviously there WAS doubt by the fans, but JP doesn't want to acknowledge it in the middle of a season, especially if his plan is (and it is) to keep Mac. That does nothing but take away focus from the team and the season - he's addressing it on Monday, after the season is done. Any logical reasons??? I would like to hear them. Not saying it couldn't happen. But I thought it was going to this year and look what happened?
Is Brackins back??
Is Gilstrap back??
Who makes a huge step up to become the leader???
Just wondering???
I FORGOT THE ATTITUDE.......
As long as I can say they're morons, it's all good to me.
Brackins back Strap getting another year and some wishful thinking
So are you saying there was a question or not?
Last year he publicly backed McDermott mid-season. If his plan all along was to keep Mac, why not say so mid-season again? He had to have been questioning whether he was keeping Mac or not.
For the record, I think Mac is a great guy and I want him to succeed more than most coaches we've had, because I think he genuinely wants the best for ISU (a nice Paul Rhoads like quality). I just don't know if he will.
