This year's team compared to the 04-05 NCAA team?

How do you think this years MBB team compares to the 2004-2005 NCAA team?

Better, Worse, Similar?

That's interesting. The 2004 team was a backcourt oriented roster. This year's team is the opposite.

I'd say that the 2004 team had more all around talent but if the two would play, I don't know anyone on Wayne's team that could really challenge Craig. He's just too athletic for Jackson or Jared. When you toss Gilstrap in the mix, that'd create all sorts of match-up problems.

Curtis and Will would really pour it on this year's guards though.

It's a toss up in my opinion but if I had to choose, I think I'd take this year's team.

The difference between this year's team and that team are the guards. If you have great guards and can have some solid pieces around them you will be in great shape. Guard play can really carry a team a long ways.

04-05: Two excellent guards, experienced and capable pieces after that.
09-10: An excellent big man. Potential + potential depth everywhere else

Tough at this point. I have an idea of what Gilstrap, Christopherson, and Colvin and contribute, but that of course needs to play out. Projecting personal improvement by Garrett, Buckley, Staiger, and Hamilton tells me we should be incrementally better.

Add it up, and throw in court chemistry, I think we can be pretty good. But again, it all has to play out - hopefully the way I'm thinking it does.

Big men can carry a team a long ways too.

Will Blalock
Curtis Stinson
Rahshon Clark
Damion Staple
Jared Homan

Diante Garrett
Lucca Staiger
Marquis Gilstrap
Craig Brackins
Justin Hamilton

I think 2004-2005 would win 76-70. Hard to match up with Stinson and Blalock.

I can only think of one way the two teams MAY be alike: the 04-05 team started big12 play 0-5! Considering we get KU, TX, @NU, @TTech, @OU...that could happen. hope it doesn't!

Brackins has trouble with anyone who is stronger than him (see the Iowa game). I think both Jared and Jackson could have pushed him far enough out to minimize his effectiveness... The guards from 04 would have a hay day on this team and this years team would have all sorts of trouble breaking the press.

The coaches would be interesting to watch in that game.

I would take this years team, also. Not so sure you couldn't neutralize '04 guards.
