Yeah 7 Brew sucks unless you're working towards diabetes.Different crowds IMO. The coffee at 7 Brew sucks, the draw is in the customization and extreme sugar content.

Old Battles was great. We went when visiting my brother once he got to Ames.I was taken to the "old" Battles when I first visited Ames around 2002. It could have been taken right out of downtown Chicago. Loved it.
In the early 1980's while in college in Chicago, on the way to a Bulls game, I would get off the Madison Avenue bus a few blocks short of the Chicago Stadium (pre- United Center), in order to get a BBQ dinner. Then, we would sit near the court before the game and eat our food before they kicked us back to our standing room only seats. $6 tickets late in the season against Cleveland with a 50% student discount. The other 50% more than covered the BBQ dinner.

Yep, from what I heard that’s still the case. Guess we’ll see.The location in west Ames is beyond busy. It feels like they are taking over.
Apparently B-Bops is looking to build in the grassy area across from Earl May on South 16th. But the fact they are closing before they've even secured the land is a red flag.
The one by the mall is closer to me anyway.Yep, from what I heard that’s still the case. Guess we’ll see.
Gonna be so nice for football. The Quik Star on the corner of Grand and 16th is flying up, went by there a couple of weeks ago and they were doing earthwork, went by yesterday and the building is up, all the gas pumps are in and they are pouring concrete for the pumps and driveway.
They are going to make a killing at that location for football, before and after the game.Gonna be so nice for football.
It opened about three weeks ago, we have not stopped by figuring it would be packed for the first month or so.Wait, since when did Ames get an Olive Garden? I was just looking at Google Maps and saw it.
The one on Mortensen and Dakota is a few weeks behind the one on 16th but looks like it should be up by football season. The Quik Star on the corner of Grand and 16th is flying up, went by there a couple of weeks ago and they were doing earthwork, went by yesterday and the building is up, all the gas pumps are in and they are pouring concrete for the pumps and driveway.
There's rumors they may put one near the corner of Cameron School Road and George Washington Carver since they are developing that area and a lot of people commute to Ames through that intersection. The one on Mortensen and Dakota is a few weeks behind the one on 16th but looks like it should be up by football season.
Isn’t there a B-bops in north ames?

Pure sugar. Mostly premade drinks so it's "quick" but they are chock full of sugar.7 Brew is opening a store soon in Cedar Falls near Kohl's.
I'd never heard of it, but man all the soccer mom types were falling over themselves excited -- but the drinks they were talking about didn't sound like coffee at all.
