*** Official #7 IOWA STATE vs #16 Texas Tech Game(Day) Thread ***

While I think you always play to win, iowa is way better off being a 10 seed than an 8.

Now does their quad breakdown get them down to an 11? I think it should, but there will be mercy for an overrated 10 team. It may largely depend on how the committee places miami Ohio and any other bid sstealers. Ultimately, they were probably one MORE dog **** embarrassing loss like Maryland away from the pig.

They're likely safe now.
They're not gonna be anything but an 8/9.

No doubt you should be exhausted (relatively) at the end of the season...but there are methods of training to save a little of the gas to make sure you cross the finish line. Also...these guys are not going thru the grind of riding busses all around the country...they get a lot of benefits that past players only dreamed of...and deservingly so!

I'd actually guess the weekly grind of a conference season just wears teams out and it's easy to get in a rut mentally that affects everything else.

Traveling almost every week, playing two games but not always on the same days, etc just turns into a slog.

Imo most teams look rejuvenated in conference tourneys and I wonder if the 'something different' is a factor.

The midpoint of the conference would be somewhere in north-central Oklahoma.

OKC is really the only one that could possibly be in the same ballpark (it'd technically be closer), but KC has much better airport access for teams\fans. Also a negative on OKC given the sooners are the closest major team to there and they left.

Plus we tried OKC and nobody went.

So.... Arizona it is lol. Damn those guys are good but we're good too and we'll have the Hilton South energy so should be a good one. Arizona is one scary bunch though

Don't worry though. This is actually a good thing because Iowa wants the 10 seed.
Honest question, how many tourney teams have they beaten? Just Neb and a super pedestrian Indiana?

I was also told TJ's teams wear down every year but here they are winning by 20, 40, and 20 in the last three including against a very good Tech team.
I don't believe that there is a consistent period that the team gets fatigued, lose their legs and don't shoot well. I think fighting through it is why we've had some solid success into the second weekend of the big tournament. I think this year could be different. The break through timing is looking promising. Hope a long bigxii tournament doesn't give a little of that back.

Losing tomorrow wouldn't be the end of the world. Get the legs happy for the big boy days. But win tomorrow and all bets are off. Meeting up for a great month one way or the other.

Did they want to ride a bus???

1.6 hours on a plane for a week-long tournament does not seem burdensome.

Funny they weren't complaining (or at least most weren't) when they were scrambling for a conference. Also, what they left out of their homer "math" is that if it was held in Arizona, how many miles away would that be for WVU, Cinci, or UCF?

They're not gonna be anything but an 8/9.
You may be right, but the committee has tipped their hand and I think their focus on quad 1 winning PERCENTAGE may come into play, add to it IoLa has some really pathetic losses to offset their very few notable wins. Then dropping 3 lines relative to net scurve is sizable, but not unthinkable.

For the record I think they sit between a 9 and 10. But we'll see. They really only have one quality win and 3 dog sh÷t losses. They deserve an 11.

The most active basketball fanbases are Kansas, Arizona, and Iowa State.. KCMO is perfect for 2/3 of those teams. You'd be an idiot to move this tournament, given the history when they tried that.. Take our TV money and keep quiet, or else you are welcome to play UNLV and Fresno State in the new Pac 12.. A kind reminder that the Big 12 teams took a pay decrease to let in the Pac 12 schools.

Houston is a big market but a small fanbase, Tech is pretty good, but they are far bigger football than basketball fans. TCU and Baylor are the two smallest schools in the conference, so they won't show up in Dallas..

I also agree that once KC gets a dome, the football game should rotate between Arlington, KC, and either Glendale or Vegas

Great effort by the team today after a slow start. Our defense just took them out of their game plan and they struggled making their shots after the first 10 minutes.
Bet this will be the last time the conference uses this floor, players slipping all over the place, not worth getting a player injured for something like this,

AZ's just getting their best game out of the way now, right?

They're on cruise control against imo and underrated UCF team.
You think like i think, lol.

Just like i didn't want to waste good shots today and the fact Milan was a bit quiet means tomorrow he'll be ON FIRE!
