*** Official #5 IOWA STATE vs TCU Game(Day) Thread ***

This team with the talent should have won by. 20 against TCU. The 1999 team would have never lost this game

That team lost to a CU team that was similar.

Ended 18-14, maybe worse than what this TCU team will do.

They had lots of weird games, got breaks when it mattered and the Big 12 was down.

TCU has been bad lately but has hung with other good teams.

Looks like this team’s kryptonite are aggressive defense teams who play a slow pace

Just hope they don’t draw a team with that style of play in the tournament

I went back to game threads from the 5 wins before this loss The most pages was 45, only 22 for the UCF game.

Currently on 73 for this crapfest. I'll keep track.
They all come out for games like this. There's gotta be a psychological thing, self-hate or something.

You would think we'd be more comfortable against traps, given how often we must practice it ourselves. Everybody just looked checked out the last 10 minutes.
This has been a theme throughout the Otz era that rears its head at the worst time and annoys the heck out of me. How can we be so bad against a little pressure when that’s what we practice!?

After the drake game I sure did, but they never looked back really

They were in a bunch of weird games throughout the conference season that they pulled off, almost lost the first round tourney game and were behind for quite a bit in the 2nd round vs. Auburn.

People like to b*tch and talk smart about how they know all about recruiting and coaching. While most of them probably have done neither.

So anybody ask themselves if Nelson played could he have made some effective drives to the hoop?

I know it made me wonder
Maybe draw some fouls. Agree, needed to put pressure on D that was playing tight by going right at the D. Toure needs to develop that part of his game

Heise had some nice plays second half but is not exactly explosive.

Even some of the buy-game teams started "mucking it up" like that and we struggled (relatively speaking) with it. It is definitely the scout on us this year for how to play us if you're a not-great offense.

And we don't have any good bigs. Buchanon has a nice game from time to time, and other games he is nowhere to be found.
Yeah having a big who's only role is to stand at the top of the key and hand the ball off is uh not great......you don't see elite teams with bigs who do that. Not to mention he really struggles finishing down low and for the love of God DUNK THE BASKETBALL.
