*** Official #5 IOWA STATE vs TCU Game(Day) Thread ***

Yeah I mean I watch Arizona, Houston, Duke, Michigan and they all look terrifying as top 5 teams. I watch us and while we have moments we look unbeatable we also have so many moments where we aren’t intimidating because we’re our own worst enemy and make a lot of mistakes that title contenders don’t make.

Have you ever noticed the types of players those other teams have?

They're full of dudes.

It’s clear there were enough guys who didn’t respect TCU. The lack of focus throughout make this one hard to defend. It’s not like they were just missing good shots. Turnover after turnover, mostly unforced. Dumb fouls. Poor shot selection. Going 2/8 from the line. Only drawing 8 FTs when you’re not making threes.

Have all these people who heap accolades on Jefferson ever watched him play? I know the stats and analytics are good but he might be one of my least favorite Cyclones to watch in a long time
Hard to disagree. He wasn’t great on defense either. Him dribbling down the court just makes you nervous. Overall numbers are good, but seemingly run to much offense through him and a turnover waiting to happen.

I’m not ready to agree to this hot take. BUT I would not want to play Iowa right now again. I doubt Iowa loses this game down the stretch like we did tonight. Especially how well Iowa is playing right now.
Be for real Iowa has lost some stupid games and blown some huge leads lol they’re one dimensional with Stirtz

i think I am just going to tell myself we are going to finish with 6-7 conference losses and will be a 3 seed and hope for a good match up 1st and 2nd rounds. Otherwise I am going to make myself crazy

One thing for sure we have to find a real big man if we wanna go far. Any other top five team that got those passes down low tonight would’ve stuck their elbow down the rim on a dunk and we’re missing layups.

I mean, he’s kinda right. This loss is ridiculous. I think it’s more embarrassing this TCU team came off a narrow win at home against a decimated KSU team that was really bad to begin with.
It was a frustrating loss. But you can’t use outcomes of other games to draw conclusions

Funny how he didn’t mention how TCU took Kansas to OT in a game they were ahead by 9 with 90 seconds left or took Michigan down to the wire

Sorry folks, JJ needs to understand that next level requires taking care of the ball.
Pity a team that takes him in the first 3 rounds
There are only two rounds.

I also get frustrated with him but he’s all we’ve got. As loose as he is with ball, everyone else in the rotation but Tamin is worse, sadly.

Who would you rather have facilitating? Toure? Heise? No way.

Lipsey also added a missed free throw
They missed 4 free throws I believe in a row earlier in game. They let TCU stick around. I thought they had it after had run to come back from 8 down but could not execute on offense.

They either need to figure out how to post up someone to slow game down or start generating better 3s. Dribbling into crowds and throwing bad passes is offensive

Maybe we aren't? Unless we're hitting from three and getting lots of points off turnovers anyone can hang with us and we can lose. Just like Cincy and tonight.

I'll say it 1,000 times but getting fidgety with the ball is a symptom.

It's contagious too, like they can't just slow down and try to kick it around a bit.

Maybe realize the FF talk is just talk and needs a lot to go on to even happen.

The FF's in the current era are going to largely go to the most athletic teams anyway and that will be the main difference.
remember when NC State made it after only getting in the tourney as an auto qualifier and an 11 seed? unless you are arizona, michigan, or duke, making a FF is about 75% luck.

Illinois, Nebraska both lost tonight.
Oh hell no the team that played tonight isn't winning Saturday, but the team from the last couple weeks can definitely beat KU and Houston on Monday.
Kansas and Houston have DUDES. We have guys who are as tall as the hoop who for whatever reason can't dunk or make layups
