*** Official #5 IOWA STATE vs TCU Game(Day) Thread ***

Losing to Cincinnati AND TCU this season is unacceptable in my opinion. If we are as good as we all figured. Losing to the KUs or Houston’s don’t hurt that much
Maybe we aren't? Unless we're hitting from three and getting lots of points off turnovers anyone can hang with us and we can lose. Just like Cincy and tonight.

Get ready: Iowa will go farther than us in the dance.
I’m not ready to agree to this hot take. BUT I would not want to play Iowa right now again. I doubt Iowa loses this game down the stretch like we did tonight. Especially how well Iowa is playing right now.

And ISU beat Colorado by 30

So you’re saying we would had won by 60 tonight? Your logic makes no sense. Well, to be fair, most of what you post doesn’t make much sense anyway
Not by 60, but win in a similar fashion as the other two top 5 road teams who played today did. (Houston and Duke)

The lack of self-awareness about his own weaknesses is astounding.
When Jefferson plays smart he’s fun to watch but he seriously lacks any understanding of his limitations and continues to dribble into traffic or force things. He will not last long in the NBA playing with zero self awareness and those flaws are going to get even more exposed at the next level. I hope he has a good stretch to end the year and cleans up the things that kill this team

I’m 35 years old, I think it’s just part of rooting for Iowa state that even when we’re “good” we’re still frauds. We’ve had back to back seasons of talk of final 4 and then TJ does the TJ special and loses team focus and team folds. This is the start of a 3-5 type of finish to season.

Maybe realize the FF talk is just talk and needs a lot to go on to even happen.

The FF's in the current era are going to largely go to the most athletic teams anyway and that will be the main difference.

I mean, he’s kinda right. This loss is ridiculous. I think it’s more embarrassing this TCU team came off a narrow win at home against a decimated KSU team that was really bad to begin with.

That trap on Tamin he never adjusted to, and it's an easy fix. Totally outcoached.
Frankly Tamin has enough experience he could have/should have adjusted on his own. First time I've seen him cave in a pressure situation since at TTU his freshman year.

The bigs are an issue. They hedged and overplayed up top and just dared us to hit the roller. They had zero fear of our bigs going to the rim

The phog-like crowd is to blame!
Honestly, this was hardly a road game loss.
Ps. I predicted a big game from Batemon. Yikes

Not a good effort overall, but really looked bad at end. Just looked lost/overmatched on both ends.

Thought that Dixon did a great job and our staff didn't react. The whole night the TCU guards pushed out Tamin & Joshua. We were initiating our offense 35 feet from the basket.

TCU also took advantage of our switching everything. TJ went small, but TCU still had solid mismatches and got good shots.

But this game was lost because of our half court offense.

At this point it doesn’t really matter though. ISU is making the tourney, they’re out of the running to win the conference, and a 1 seed (already remote) is entirely out of the question. Not that their play deserved it, regardless of record.

Those two wins would make an argument for a 2 seed, but that’s all. They’ll be somewhere between a 2 and 5 seed, and I don’t really think any number in there is more likely to get them further in the tourney than another with their penchant to just disappear against mediocre teams.

In short, IMO, not a ton left to play for in the regular season, and I don’t actually think these games matter a ton.
The goal should be a 2 or 3 seed, and at this point in the season, and against this brutal Big 12 schedule, big wins are more important than mediocre losses.

1 seed is cool story, but really not that much different than a 2 or 3.

But again, your logic doesn’t make sense. You were using TCU losing to Colorado to show how bad TCU is. Yet ISU best Colorado by30. So you can’t use the outcome of other games to project onto other games

All you’re doing is posting gibberish. But that’s all you post

Tamin was GREAT against it when we went on the run to get ahead.

But otherwise yes...it was dreadful and he played right into Dixon's hands by picking up the dribble repeatedly in bad spots.

Geez, I know we're all fanatics prone to overreaction because of our Cyclone passion, but we're fine. These kinds of games happen. Illinois has looked unstoppable and they lost to a meh Wisky team tonight. Nebraska has hit a skid.

We'll rebound by winning a couple of these big upcoming games and we'll all be flying high again.
I think the issue is that yet again we had expectations for maybe a run but yet again we’re showing a lot of flaws that make any chance of a mcaa tourney run very unlikely which is disappointing when you achieve a top 5 ranking most of the season

Im still not the world's biggest fan of our bigs trapping at the top of the arc on D either.
