So we can't question Pollard on here anymore?

Let’s see, the men’s basketball program is currently in its best shape ever and is ranked 3rd in the nation and undefeated. The football program is currently on the best 10 year stretch in history. The women’s basketball program is currently ranked in the top 10 and undefeated with as of right now, the national player of the year on its roster and the wrestling program is back to being relevant again. The only sports that matter and in reality, only two sports matter(men’s basketball and football). The programs are doing all of this with less money than every school in the Big ten and SEC. Not to mention the non Big ten and SEC schools that have big donors(Duke, North Carolina, Miami, etc). ISU competing in the top of all those sports, but then we have dumb ***** like the OP calling for the head of the AD for failing at his job. Jamie Pollard continues to prove over and over, that he is one of, if not the best AD in college sports by keeping ISU at the top without the top resources. The irony of this jack ass is that he calls out people for not having critical thinking skills when he’s the one who has none. What a ******* stupid post, by a clueless moron.
Sincerely though - this take is a realistic perspective....thank you taking the hype out of the OP

Been very supportive of Pollard and the results speak for themselves, he has been a fantastic AD. As we move into this new era, think he has been a little slow on evolving and as I hear rumors from people I trust of him and TJ being at odds on NIL( no idea if true I’m not a reporter but this is a message board) I start thinking it’s about time to start moving him towards retirement.

Im certain they are at odds. TJ wants more. Jamie has a budget. Those two things are going to clash. I guarantee Rogers will take issue too.

For sure, Jamie has a budget and tough luck for coaches on that but some things like not wanting MBB to play in New Era tournament and when they do that going to general fund are a problem. Again just rumors.

How much would that potentially add? A million dollars a year? Maybe it's not worth the headache from the AD's perspective idk. I'm not sure how much money we missed out on due to the declined bowl game bid this year. I do think fans that feel strongly about it should purchase the premium seating.

I don't think selling alcohol in the stadium is going to make our AD leaps and bounds more competitive than it is now though.
I am personally one of those people actually not in favor of beer sales in JTS. That is because of the slobs. Are there more slobs at ISU than any other school/NFL/NHL/MLB/NASCAR, no, but when you run into that one jackass, it will ruin your day.

That being said, when the message is, "Every dollar counts, donate as much as you can." turning away any money in the millionish dollar range every year seems dumb. I could see if it meant under $100K kind of thing, but anything over that does seem like a JP problem, not a true "Not worth it" problem.

Pollard clearly made an emotional decision hiring a new coach hours after he lost Campbell. A real plan means calling a variety of candidates and getting input from advisors before you pull the trigger. Maybe that all happened behind the scenes but the story we’ve been fed is that Pollard had a bro down with Rodgers at a conference several years ago and basically promised him the job if Matt ever left. That’s not due diligence that’s a backroom deal. Maybe it will work out but it doesn’t give me a lot of confidence in the new staff. And if the entire team is gonna leave anyway why rush the process?
Let me guess, you wanted Mouser, lmfao

I get that. I'm just not sure if we lost more money by not participating in the bowl game than we would have made with alcohol sales.

I only have a guess on the loss for the bowl game. It obviously didn't cost us anything to go, probably wouldn't have added a whole lot to the Big 12 pool. So, my guess is we lost $500K. My understanding (please correct me as I'm probably wrong) Schools are paid for their travel expenses to the bowl, then the bowl money is pooled and divided after that. So we are probably getting what we would have anyway, minus $500K

$400k. Way short of a million.

(We should be selling booze in stadium)

ISU like any P4 school has 2 or 3 major sports where 95% of the NIL should be spent, for ISU that is football, MBB and the give some to WBB, everything else should be getting nothing more than token NIL funding outside of maybe wrestling. When the rest start breaking even or close to it, then they also should start getting more NIL. With limited dollars you have spend it where it does the most good for not only the university but the athletic program. Football is the money driver here, we should never forget that fact.

Basically promised him the job? Link?

Didn’t want anyone in particular. Just feels like a knee jerk reaction to hire so quick and obviously it didn’t work for player retention. So now we just have to hope that Pollard’s gut feeling is correct.

Who cares about player retention. We need the guys in the cult of campbell gone.

This is exactly what is happening though

Would you rather we waited a full month to hire a coach, lose the whole team anyways, and not have a coach in place right now actively bringing in new players when the transfer portal opens in a few days?

Sure, but what are we doing if we are not trying. There is money out there to be had, but you have to want to try and make it.

It just seems that our AD had become very comfortable in where everything stood financially. We were keeping up with facilities, and keeping those few major donors happy. Now we are in a new era, and every dollar is important. However, we are literally witnessing other schools make strides on collecting any and all revenue while we sit idle.

Honest question, has anyone seen one single form of communication from the AD on how people can give to We Will, let alone encouraging donations to We Will? All I have seen is a message from the Blums on how to switch over.
The ISU FOUNDATION is in charge of it all now, is my understanding.

Would rather bring in the right guy for the job and hey maybe that is Rodgers. Let’s all hope so. The way he was hired though doesn’t give me a ton of confidence and seems like a panic move.
