So we can't question Pollard on here anymore?

I think he has been a great AD but this age of college athletics has passed him by. Beth Goetz is running circles around him in Iowa City with the NIL stuff.
What????
Yes sure. Hopefully you can agree that if this is not a great example of the AD being proactive with NIL. This is something that ISU foundation had set up before NIL went over to the University.
Boy, I should just stay out of this, but for what it’s worth, my family has IA season tickets (and Cyclone season tickets). We’ve never gotten an email or mailing asking for NIL contributions.

I do contribute to Cyclone NIL.

Cytown won't see any revenue for at least another couple of years, and I don't believe any of that revenue is planned to go towards NIL…..
You don’t know how CyTown revenue will be used by the AD. And you don’t know when the revenue stream will commence.

You want an email you’re saying…….

Since I brought up the email let me clarify. Beth Goetz was just sharing all the plans they have moving forward with NIL. I wish Pollard would share ISU plans as well. I don't care if it's a billboard, an email, a commercial or a carrier pigeon.

If you read all my posts you will know that I am clearly supportive of Pollard... I don't know what kind of AD Goets is.... (I know she is clearly an upgrade from Barta...but who isn't?) and I never mentioned she was running circles around Pollard. It's fun to hang on the email and fixate on that....but the email was clearly just a tool to share their plans and when you look at their plans regarding NIL they appear to be pretty aggressive. I just want to know our plans as well. I am also fully aware that Iowa is in such a better spot due to their conference. I am also aware of how much their athletic department has had to borrow money over the years and how many lawsuits they had to deal with in the Barta era. And if Pollard has shared those plans and I missed it let me know (I know he mentioned how much sports get...but has he talked about raising money over the cap etc? )

It was just something I shared for conversation...I didn't imagine it would turn in to one of the most ridiculous arguments on this site and there have been quite a few! :p

First, it's pretty obvious that a project can't generate revenue when vertical construction is not close to finished. Second, yes, we do know where the revenue will go...

CYTown’s generated revenue will be directed to a Capital Improvements Fund dedicated to enhancing the Iowa State Center over 35 years.

You do understand that the AD is currently paying for those repairs now so if cytown pays for them that will free that money up for other things.

It’s like when a church does a fundraiser, you always say it’s something the kids and people will give more. Even through you are going to spend that money no matter what so it is just shuffling money around and makes it more palatable to other people.

What would you like? A phone call? A Candygram?
I don't have anything specific...not my area of expertise. I also don't think you need to be an expert to know something is better then nothing.
I just question what we are doing to stay relevant in this new world. I'm not sure why this is even an argument at this point, as I'm pretty sure we all want the same thing. It just seems to me that our peer institutions are doing far more than we are. Again if anyone can show me what ISU is doing to stay on par with our peers, I'll concede this debate.

Yes. I was simply responding to the post that said we had no idea where the revenue would go and when it would start. My whole point is if we are solely hanging our hats on revenue from CyTown to help fund NIL, we are going to fall way behind.

It doesn't help when the Big 12 took few milly from the budget in order to add the 4 corner schools. That doesn't help our budget. I guess we should just drop all non essential sports teams, but we need those to start in the ncaa, or some thing like that.
It's the houston, Cincinnati, UCFs that hurt budget wise, but that was necessary to save the conference and outlive the Pac 12.

Just re-post this every morning until the first game to get it cranked up.

Apparently you have to go to concerts to get emails.

So you wanted things to drag out. Disagree. Good leadership is to have a plan in place for when the unexpected happens. Pollard had a plan. He implemented the plan. And Pollard received input from Coach Otz about Rogers. Otz said if you can get him do it. If you know who you want then you don’t mess around. This open up the search BS is what led us to hire Steve Prohm. Terrible basketball coach.

Who was your hotshot HC favorite you wanted us to get?
Pollard clearly made an emotional decision hiring a new coach hours after he lost Campbell. A real plan means calling a variety of candidates and getting input from advisors before you pull the trigger. Maybe that all happened behind the scenes but the story we’ve been fed is that Pollard had a bro down with Rodgers at a conference several years ago and basically promised him the job if Matt ever left. That’s not due diligence that’s a backroom deal. Maybe it will work out but it doesn’t give me a lot of confidence in the new staff. And if the entire team is gonna leave anyway why rush the process?

Do you give at all to ISU? I'm a Cyclone Club member and got an email Dec 18 addressed from Pollard specifically detailing all the ways to give. We Will, Unrestricted Fund, Champions Circle, etc.
I'm pretty sure he's talked about ways to give in different interviews too? Also We Will and the Cyclone Club have tons of info on what to do. This isn't new.
I'm sorry you didn't get an email directly to you but We Will and other NIL opportunities have been discussed ad nauseam so if you can't know what to do without being specifically told, I can't tell help you but I guess Beth can?
