Looking for the throwback Jack trice era shirt/jersey.

I’ve been trying to find online anywhere I can buy those throwback Jack Trice era shirts or a jersey for my son. He has a school project where they have to dress up as someone in history and he picked Jack Trice. He may only be 10 but he is such a huge fan of Iowa state athletics and I’m pretty proud the pride he has with every thing Iowa state with the current and history. So if anybody has something they would sell or knows of a place I can buy this your help would be very appreciated!

NBA: Crowds During Coronavirus

Great idea?

Instead of no fans, each team should have two super fans join the organization. The super fans get tested and if they pass they now travel with the team. The home team gets two fans, the away team gets one. This keeps home court advantage!

Imagine the Raptors at Lakers. Drake (Raptors) vs Snoop Dogg and Jack Nicholson (Lakers) are the only people watching in person. Snoop constantly heckles the Raptors players while everyone else can hear it because it's dead quiet in there. Same goes for Drake. Mic up the players and super fans too. Sit them under the hoops so they can heckle during free throws. TV gold!

Cyclone Patio Umbrella

I just bought some patio furniture and would like to have an ISU umbrella. It is a tall table so I am looking for about a 9 foot umbrella that tilts and has something Iowa State related on it. Does anyone know where I can find one. I looked online and I'm not seeing anything there. The one I found there are all for short tables. Thanks!

Braxton Bayless

I just heard today that Ron Bayless' son Braxton had 41 points in a state tournament game today. I have not heard of him until today. For those who may have seen him play before, is he a Big 12 caliber player? Since he is a legacy, didn't know if there was any interest from us as far as a scholarship or preferred walk on?

Drugs and alcohol in the age of Coronavirus

Everyone stocking up? What’s your haul? I’ve got a ton of edibles in the freezer and a big jar of green dragon tincture that I can make in to a bunch of different things. Also sitting on a decent amount of flower. hitting Costco this weekend for a cart full of Coors Light, Miller (I’ve tapped out of the craft brew game for the most part unless I go to an actual brewery) and champagne. Definitely staying away from coke but in the market for LSD or Boomers.

Amazing find! Oldest ISU uniform in existence?

A little bit ago, the ISU Archives tweeted a new acquisition--an amazingly PRISTINE 1910 ISU baseball uniform:

Simply stunning. I believe this is the oldest known ISU baseball uniform in existence which, of course, joins my own Jack Trice-era 1923 ISU football jersey and 1923/24 ISU basketball uniform scraps.

It would've been worn with red wool socks (recall the limitations of early film tech meant red/yellow didn't reproduce like current films--an issue I discussed in The yellow lipstick of Jack Trice). I looked through the 1912 Bomb to find a picture of the team/player (Long), who is second from right in front row:

WBB - KC Roll Call

So, we are getting ready to head down to KC today (gonna watch the men tonight - scalping tickets). But our main reason for going was we got all session women's tournament tickets.

So, was curious how many WBB fans will be making the trip to support the women's team. I've never been in municipal arena before, so I'm kind of stoked to see it!

Hy-Vee-What's up?

Just in the last few weeks:

  • Multiple fulfillment centers are closing (Omaha, KC, DSM)
  • Five Hy-Vee Market Grille restaurants in central Iowa will transition into Wahlburgers restaurants by early summer, resulting in some layoffs.
  • Hy-Vee announced that some of its store directors will become district store directors, who will oversee several stores and mentor store managers.
  • No longer open 24hrs
  • 30 in-store dietitians will transfer to the corporate health and wellness team to support companywide programs.
  • Purchasing 5 QT's in the Des Moines area.Fast & Fresh Express

So are they in trouble, trying to stay ahead of the curve, shoring up things before being acquired, etc.

Planting a seed- Invasion of Lawrence 2020

First time, long time-

Just want to plant a seed for everyone to consider: Lawrence is a great football road trip from Central Iowa.

This year we play at KU on Oct. 3. I took my family to Lawrence for the 2018 game and had a great day. Did a day trip from DSM, ate both Waffle House for breakfast and BBQ for supper. Got into the game for $15 each, but others got in for even less. Saw two ridonkulous Butler TDs in person.

The key is that without trying Iowa State fans outnumbered KU fans at least 2:1. Granted, Les has gotten the fan base a little more excited, but unless they start 3-1 or 4-0 (I don’t see them winning in Waco in week 2) I think Iowa State fans can overwhelm the KU fan base with only 10-15K bodies. (It seems like we have that many alumni in the KC metro alone.)

Start your planning now. See you in Lawrence.

On That Note: I Love My Calendar Girl

Welcome back to "On That Note," CF’s weekly go-to for music exploration, hosted by @MeanDean, @cyclones500 and myself.

This week we are looking at songs and lyrics which reference the 12 different months of the year.

For this topic the just the word month will not do. A specific month must be mentioned. Also certain months i.e. March and May appear in many songs where they are not talking about them as months. It must be clear that they are talking about the month in calendar form.

Last week's topic: On That Note: Time Has Come Today
