Big 12's Tulsa, OK

We go every year, and looking forward to another one. Let me know if any new folks are going this year, and I will do my best to pay back all the great help I got this year traveling to these Iowa towns. I won't make it to NCAA's this year, so this is my last good run for wrestling this year. Tons of bars and good food around the BOK, we always have a good time.

Everyone has the game that made them believe in Hilton Magic. This wasn't the first time I saw a great comeback (hell, I think the week before there was a pretty decent comeback against Oklahoma), but it was my first core memory at Hilton. I remember being really pissed at halftime and I remember losing my god damned mind in the second half. My mom, who wasn't at the game, starting taping it with about 7 minutes left. And I watched the hell out of that tape. So much so that when cyclones.tv had a replay of the game some 20 years later, I STILL knew the exact words the announcers said and their exact inflection.

And games like this are the reason why I will never understand why anyone would prefer watching at home to being there in person.

Annoying TV/Movie Tropes

What are some tropes that annoy you in tv and movies. Mine all fall into being not realistic at all. And I fully get sometimes you have to suspend belief and just go with it.

I hate when characters are driving and they’re like moving the steering wheel a ton making it look like they’re driving when in real life if anyone did that they’d be all over the road. That and the driver looking at the passenger in a conversation for long periods of time when their eyes aren’t on the road.

I also hate how phone calls never make sense. Meaning in a real conversation you’d have to pause and listen then respond. In tv and movies they’ll answer and respond when there’s no way the other person could have any chance to talk. That is a stupid one I get it because you have to move things along but it annoys the hell out of me. Ha.

Also just wounds in general. 99% of the time in real life if you get shot or stabbed etc you’d be done for but not for tv and movies. Just once I wanna see a main character get maimed and have a realistic end to them ha.

Friday OT: Winter Driving

Didn't see that anyone posted a topic for today but 1 came to mind that I think will bring some interesting responses. The main theme I am looking for here are stories specifically involving you whether that is some accident you were a part of or one that you caused because of some bad winter driving or maybe you witnessed something crazy happen right in front of you that you either avoided or became part of.

My worst story was about 15 years or so ago probably. Was driving to work in a wet snow storm and taking the same streets I usually did at the time in a hilly Beaverdale neighborhood. Started to go down 1 street that in hindsight I should have just avoided and taken another route that day, at the time my car was an 07 Monte Carlo SS, had my wife in the car with me and was driving pretty slow and noticed a cop car and another vehicle at the bottom of the hill that had already slid off the road. Tried to stop at the top of the hill but my car started sliding down the hill so tried to steer it towards the curb hoping it would catch the curb and stop. Well not only did I find the curb it jumped the curb and hit a phone pole on the right front corner. Luckily the pole did not snap but it was cracked pretty good. Walked down the hill to the cop who said he watched it happen and was sorry for my car but glad I didn't continue down the hill and hit them. Not long after that watched another car come down the hill and spin around a couple times before the came to a stop so the cop drove to the of the hill to block off any more cars coming down it before we had any more accidents. My car wound up having a broken front axle and got a bill later from MidAmerican for the phone pole damage/replacement that I had to send over to the insurance company to cover too.

Don't really have any other crazy stories other than putting my car in the ditch a couple times in HS. One of those times I don't know why we did not let school out sooner but it was about a 13 mile drive home and 1 of the county roads I could not even tell where the road was at. An old guy driving a pickup truck was headed towards me and was not getting over to make room so I got over some which I found out I was actually in my lane and he was driving right down the middle of the road. My maneuver to avoid a head on accident sucked me right into the soft shoulder and into the ditch enough I could not drive out of it. The guy never even stopped and just kept on driving and luckily our neighbor came down the road just a couple minutes later. She asked us what happened and I just pointed down the road at the truck that you could still see and said "that guy happened, you can even see his tracks in the road here" where I could now see he definitely was driving right down the center of the road.

Question about Big 12 Tourney tix

Hey Girls and Boys, Old timer here. Haven't been to the Big 12 tourney since paper tix (2015..we won !). if ISU lost, we used to walk out and sell remaining tix to other team fans for cash and hand them the paper tix.
How does it flow in the land of online tix? I have 2 all session tix and some other friends looking at all session tix or looking for individual session tix once they get down there.
I assume with all session tix, we have individual session tix, and IF we lose, we can sell remaining sessions?
do you walk out and find some people outside and do a deal in person and transfer the tix? Or do you put them on the AXS re-sell site, and other sites?
For my friends that might only come down for individual session tix, do you look for folks wandering about outside, or look on AXS site and other re-sell sites?
Thanks Friends !!
