What songs do you want played at your funeral?

Not to be too grim or anything, but I am the type of person who plans major life events years or even decades in advance. I'm weird like that.

Most funerals have two or three songs played during the ceremony, and these are mine:

Tuomas Holopainen(Nighwish's keyboardist) wrote this song for his grandfather shortly after he passed away.

I want this played because I just love it, and to kind of mess with people. They would be like WTF?! My idea is don't be sad I'm gone. Live it the f*** up and f***ing party celebrating my life.

Though I do prefer the Eurobeat version myself (sadly, no screaming lyrics):

As for the third song, I haven't decided yet, but I definitely want Schala/Kid's final dairy entry at the end of this video (3:03 mark) quoted at my funeral. I don't remember it from when I played Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross back to back back in August 2002 (I just remember Kid looking over the beach after the final credits rolled), but my God does it make me bawl like a baby every time I read it back with the third verse of Radical Dreamers playing.

Like I said, this may be a bit of a grim post, but it popped in my head tonight while listening to music, and was just curious if there are any other weirdos like me "making plans" like this.

Little Red Rubber Ball - A Grammar rule you didn't know you followed.

Here's something I find kind of fascinating. I'm going to summarize it from another source:

1740678103891.jpeg

If someone asked you what you see in that picture, the majority of people would say that it's some variant of a "little red rubber ball". The specific adjectives aren't particularly important, but what is, is the order that they're in. "Little" then "Red" then "Rubber". You wouldn't describe it as a "Rubber little red ball". That sounds like something a psychopath would say. But why is that? Well it turns out that there's a grammar rule that we almost all subconsciously follow, despite never being taught it

"The rule is that multiple adjectives are always ranked accordingly: opinion, size, age, shape, colour, origin, material, purpose. Unlike many laws of grammar or syntax, this one is virtually inviolable, even in informal speech. You simply can’t say My Greek Fat Big Wedding, or leather walking brown boots."

Never really thought about this before, but kind of an interesting thing to consider while I wait for this edible to kick in.

***Auto-Bid Madness 2025***

ENTRY PERIOD HAS CLOSED for CycloneFanatic’s annual “Auto-Bid Madness."

Anyone who submitted picks for "Group 1," but not Group 2, are still allowed to submit for second deadline.

I’m co-administrator, along with @ImJustKCClone.

It's the 12th year for the contest.

Basic premise
Choose the automatic qualifier for each of 31 conferences for the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

New deadline format
For the first time, we’re setting two separate deadlines for submitting picks, based on the two-week tournament schedule cycle. Contestants are free to submit picks for both groups by the first deadline, if they desire. See “Conference Template” below.

Scoring
Each correct pick receives 1 point.

Tiebreaker system
First tiebreaker: Correct Big 12 tournament champ.
Second tiebreaker: You correctly pick a team nobody else did. If still tied, it could extend to multiple cases as additional “2b” tiebreaker, if applicable.
Third tiebreaker: Highest number of correct picks that aren’t favorites (i.e., teams seeded #1 in their respective tournament).

CONFERENCE TEMPLATE
For ease of record-keeping, post your selections in the following order, keeping Group 1 and Group 2 separate, as presented. Include your CF screen name at the top of the list. (Post picks in this thread, DO NOT P.M. THEM). You may revise selections at any time until the deadline. If you make a revision, we request tagging @ImJustKCClone. (Typically, KC begins compiling entries shortly after they're submitted).

In follow-up posts, I’ll note teams ineligible for NCAAT; a few handy links to schedules, sites & brackets; and past A-BM results. Not necessarily in that order.

Let The Madness begin, and good luck!

Ryan's Career Winding Down

Nice article (despite several format errors) about Ryan. There are lots of folk who are critical of her on these boards, but there is simply no denying the huge impact she's had on this program.

Check out this article from Des Moines Register:

Iowa State women's basketball: The talk that led Cyclones star Emily Ryan to Ames

RIP Gene Hackman

Hackman, age 95, died in his Santa Fe home yesterday. His wife and their dog were also found dead. Very strange.

I was a big fan of Hackman. Amazing actor with a great sense of humor.

That is two actors in one day.

On That Note: Hammer Time

For this segment, we explore songs with titles/lyrics containing reference to specific hand tools or power tools.

Acceptable: (1) The word “tool” itself and (2) (within reason) “accessories" (such as nail and screw) and non-literal use.

“On That Note” is presented each week on Cyclone Fanatic by @MeanDean, @CycloneRulzzz and cyclones500.
(I'll add some of mine in follow-up posts.)

Not everyone is going to be happy with this Hooters news

Say it isn't so!!

I remember going to the one in Champaign, IL. :D Business trip to see a guy about buying some equipment and we ended up there later that afternoon. Guy was from Champaign and still to this day says it was the best Hooter's experience he's ever had. I remember the one in DSM until it became a Jethro's.

Williams & Blum: Disaster in Stillwater, what’s next for Iowa State

Chris Williams and Brent Blum dive into the disastrous loss for the Cyclones to Oklahoma State, why it’s not the end of the world, and what’s next for Iowa State. Postseason outlook, Big 12 hoops, and more. Presented by Mechdyne.

From an interview with the Iowa State Daily. I get what he's saying, but are the people in Johnny's and the Sukup Endzone flat-out slobs too?
