Window well covers.

What is everyone using to cover up their window wells, to keep leaves and other crap from falling into it. I have been trying to find a company here around Ames that offers something that would do the job and cannot find anything. It would have to be able to either be hinged so people could get out in case of fire or pop off, and strong enough to support the weight of our 2 Goldens if they walked on it. I have tried a few companies online but they are all out of state and want anywhere from $500 to $800 each. Any ideas or companies that I could call to get an estimate. Thanks.

Disappointing season

I'm not going to hear that we have to stay positive. We can say it this was a disappointing season. Pre season top 5 team and to lose the way we did in the round of 32 in a non-competitive game.

I not going to go as far as to start blaming the coach, players, or fans. Sometimes you just don't meet expectations and this year we most certainly did not.

CF user matching next $2,500 in We Will support!

Hey all,

A very generous Cyclone @CychiatricWard wants to match the next $2,500 in We Will support from CF users prior to tip off tomorrow. This is in addition to the current matching effort we have, so your gift would be 3x the amount. Appreciate the thoughtful gesture very much. Be sure to click CycloneFanatic under how you heard about We Will so we can make sure to count the amount towards the effort at the below link:

This format is making its rounds on the CFB Reddit; figured I could share here and maybe some others would want to hop in. This list is specific to football.

Williams & Blum: The Monday after

Chris Williams & Brent Blum analyze the conclusion of the 2024-25 basketball season at Iowa State. Adding everything together to decide what went wrong for the Cyclones, & what will be done over the next month for the 2025-26 roster. The portal is open and there is a lot to talk about. Presented as always by Mechdyne.

Today’s Presser Interviews

Comments on how all of the guys impressing at the Combine spent a lot of time in the building.

The gem that caught my interest is that they do indeed expect James Neal to take over at LT. Mentioned he’s spending a lot of time in the building.

Also mentioned a lot of OL youngsters who are doing well. All of the RS frosh, and Will Tompkins.

Mentioned that Brendan Black is getting reps at center. I’m not sure if Dylan Barret (or Deylin Hasert) are fully healthy yet.

Running backs and Connor Moberly are doing well in the training room.

Mentioned all of the portal wideouts the last two years, plus Brett Eskildsen—“we’re going to move him all over the place”.

This is the 10.52 100m guy, who played special teams last year.

Alas, though there was comment on Beni’s position switch being similar to Darien and TJ’s (he’s ahead of them at the same stage), no one asked who was looking good for the open corner spot.

Guess we’ll wait for Coach Poteat.

Talked about the challenges for Big Citrus in becoming a 70% player, on the field 7 of ten downs.

Also that Zaimir Hawk and Alijah Carnell are going to have to step up. Somehow, the question on rush ends got lost in a longer answer about Dom.

Cael Brezina was asked a lot of general questions.

Tyler Moore’s big answer was on Cooper Alexander, who was injured early last season, and he basically glowed. “He’s a dog. He’s big, he’s strong. I think he’s fast…” Paraphrased.
Still, we have another weapon here.

Nothing on the safety room.

What was amusing to me was how some of the reporters jumped all over Jon Heacock’s offhand comment about players “moving from the back to the front of the room” as if it was a gold nugget.

He’s been saying it for years. It just reflects the advancement from freshman to senior, with the obvious exceptions. The new guys sit in the back, seniors up front.

Then they had to ask not one, but both players to elaborate on the comment.

Anyway, I’m already looking forward to next week’s interviews.

Playing for metrics or end of year health and success

If there is 1 thing I'd like change in the mentality of our current program it would be getting away from bowing to the metrics of winning big in trash early season games. Cyclone talking heads always bring up the 17-2 start we had and high ratings in kenpom, but 90% of those teams were basically traffic cones we beat by 30.
In my opinion, I'd rather win by 12-20 in those non-con games and play 10-12 guys deep throughout instead of our 7-8 guys playing 35min to run up the score.
Rest our guys early, play the whole roster, mix young/new guys in at all points of the game, get game experience and hopefully end the season without weardown/overuse injuries.

Job Hunt

Feel a bit apprehensive posting this as it feels a bit conceited on my part but I know there are many who care and instead of reaching out to several individually this way more people who care can find out.

After looking on job boards waiting for Old Chicago owner to get back to me about post closing cleanup I finally applied to the first job I found that caught my eye. Sent in online application late Monday got text about setting up an interview today. Interview is tomorrow.
